  • Hats and Gloves

    Funded Mar 24, 2025

Thank you so much for your donation to my project. My students were thrilled to receive gloves and scarves. I realized that many students did not have gloves to keep their fingers warm during the cold winter days. I brought in a few from home to give out but then decided to give all of the students gloves by writing a Donors Choose project.

The fingerless gloves are especially fun for students! Students were able to choose from a large variety of colors, so they would not get their gloves mixed up with someone else. They were also happy with the scarves to keep their necks warm.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hillery

  • Let's Write

    Funded Feb 7, 2025

Thank you so much for the donation to this project. We use dry erase markers daily in this first grade classroom. We use them during phonics, writing, and math. Sometimes scholars forget to snap the lid tight on the markers causing them to dry out, so you know we are constantly needed new markers.

The tissues and wipes are a necessity at anytime during the school year but especially during cold and flu season. We are able to keep our surfaces clean and germ free, and our noses clean as well.

The scented gel pens are a fun way to mark papers and write notes to students and families.”

  • Snacks for Scholars

    Funded Sep 19, 2024

Thank you so much for your donations to this project. Scholars have been able to have various snacks in the afternoon, thanks to you. Sometimes we even use the snacks during math class to add and subtract in a fun way.

Scholars can choose between goldfish, animal crackers, cookies, and pretzels as a snack. They also can have fruit snacks or candy as a little sugar boost when the afternoon makes them tired.

It makes me feel warmth in my heart knowing that I and my students have the support of people like you. Please continue to support our school.”

  • Art Supplies for Creative Minds

    Funded Apr 17, 2024

Thank you so much for the donation to this project. The play dough was right on time! We used it immediately for math, creating 2 and 3 dimensional shapes. We used to foam paint to create beautiful art work of our own after visiting the Art museum.

The brightly colored paper was used for making letters to our student teacher, who just completed the semester with us. The markers were used every day during art time. The tissues and Clorox wipes were used daily to keep us clean and healthy!

Once again, we a re truly blessed to have someone like you thinking about us.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hillery

  • Sensory Play

    Funded Feb 28, 2023

Thank you so much for your donation. My students loved all of the items in this project. The fidget pencils were a big hit. I gave them to students and they shared them with their tables. The other items were first given per table, the colors of the balls were the colors of each of my tables.

I then created a calming corner once the novelty of all of the items wore off. Students can use whatever they need, when they need it.

The footballs and jump ropes are used during recess, to burn off some of that first grade energy. My students were so excited about about all of the items! Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hillery

  • Supplies and Snacks

    Funded Dec 6, 2022

My students were so excited to get the snacks and supplies. The colored pencils are a big hit! There are 100 different colors and students love using them for projects in class. We are also so thankful for the dry eraser markers, and glue sticks. We need all of the supplies on a daily basis.

My students love getting an afternoon snack of either Rice Crispy Treats, Fruit snacks or granola bar. Our lunch time is in the early morning, so by the afternoon students are ready for some type of snack.

We are so grateful for your donations! We are constantly in need of the consumable materials in my first grade classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hillery

  • Organized Classroom

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my project, it is essential to keep a First Grade classroom organized. I was able to create folders for student assessments to share with families and have a place to store them where I can reach the folders right away. I aIso have folders for all of the worksheets that we need during the day, organized by subject. I used the Sharpie markers to label student chrome books with their user name and passwords. I also labeled parts of the phonics curriculum for students. Students use the dry erase markers daily during phonics and math lessons. Crayons are always needed in a primary classroom. Thank you so much!”

  • Back to School Basics

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for the donation! The electric pencil sharpener is used daily. Our pencils are always ready and ready for us to do our work in class. The markers, crayons, and scissors are used almost daily but especially for projects in the classroom. We love to use the scented markers for special projects during literacy and math.

Our pencils cases are used to keep all of the supplies stored neatly. Students are able to keep up with the crayons, pencils, and erasers with their color coordinated pencils cases. Thank you so much!”

  • Creative Outlet

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you for giving to my project. The snacks came just in time to provide an afternoon boost for my students that helped them to focus and be creative. The colored paper was used for projects in class, copy graphic organizers and other work. The students loved the bright colors and they stand out from the white copy paper. My third grade students loved writing with the gel pens, they felt a little more mature transitioning from pencils to pens, in preparation for fourth grade. The Lysol wipes helped to keep the desks and other surfaces clean and germ free. Thank you so much again, it is a blessing to have people like you helping my students!”

  • Headphones for Individual Use

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Our school provides chrome books for students to complete interventions, but not head phones. Thank you so much for donating to my project to provide each student with individual head phones to compete online interventions. The students love to hear the directions read especially for them or listen to music. I love that they are not disturbing anyone. Sometimes if students are below level, they are embarrassed to go onto the intervention. Now that they have headphones they can be instructed on their level without feeling embarrassed. Thank you so much for investing in our future!”

My third grade students are from low income families living in a large city. Many come to school below level and struggle all year to meet the goal of grade level reading by the end of the year. They enjoy learning but have short attention spans. I seek out fun activities which they can complete by themselves or in small groups. They enjoy working in small groups especially with technology.
