Our school district has generously provided all staff and students with Chromebooks. However, this technology is not equipped to handle higher level tech applications and services. In addition, the ability of these devices to handle teletherapy is sub-par, resulting in choppy audio-visual quality and distracting interruptions. It will be extremely helpful to utilize Mac technology, which can handle not only Zoom audio/visual requirements but can provide additional tools to create fun and engaging teletherapy activities. These additional features include allowing the student and therapist to toggle between mouse control, and utilize hands-on apps through a virtual connection. Having the technology required to host effective sessions will further promote necessary speech- language prompts and placement cues for speech sounds and appropriate speech sound production. Often, the timing of responses and prompts is essential to proper support and delays only create distraction and missed opportunities for speech and language learning. I believe Apple products and their capabilities are key in seamless teletherapy sessions and I thank you so much for considering a donation to this cause.
