2nd Grade Needs Your Help!
Funded Oct 10, 2014My students and I would like to thank you for funding our project! It was so exciting to see their faces when the materials arrived! They could not believe that we got "these really cool tables" and the "awesome books" for our classroom! We are so appreciative and and grateful.
In our classroom we are using all the resources we received every day! We use the books in the Self-Selected Reading Center to read text and answer comprehension questions on our graphic organizers. We also use some of them to read to take Accelerated Reading Test to improve comprehension. They really enjoy the selection of fiction and non-fiction books. This will prepare them for the PARCC test when they get to third grade.
The tables have made such a huge impact in our classroom environment. Students now have the opportunity to work in groups more, and to work with manipulatives without everything sliding off of their desk. With the tables, students are grouped on mix abilities so that they can work together. They really enjoy helping each other and learning together. The tables and chairs have had such a positive impact on our classroom.
This project has really enhanced my students' learning and the way I teach. My students are more engaged and active in their learning. They are able to work together and help each other. Their reading has also improved now that we have access to more books. They get so excited to read now!
Again my students and I would like to thank you for funding our project! We are beyond excited to use these resources every day in our classroom to enhance our learning!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. LeBlanc
First Grade Loves Learning!
Funded Dec 5, 2013My students and I would like to thank you for funding our project! It was truly remarkable to watch their little faces when we opened the packages! They could not believe that we got "all these cool books" and "awesome Ipad" for our classroom! We are so appreciative and and grateful.
In our classroom we are utilizing all the resources we received on a daily basis! We use the Ipad in the Fluency Center to read text and answer comprehension questions. We also use it with the Splashtop App, and write on the Ipad. As we write on the Ipad, it appears on the Whiteboard! They think this is the coolest thing! This helps when they can't reach the board or when we are working from our desk. We also use the Ipad as a tool for early finishers. They are allowed to access the Ipad to read and play educational games in pairs.
We are using the books to read and take Accelerated Reading quizzes for our school Accelerated Reading Program. There is a grade level competition each week. The class that reads and passes the most quizzes gets the A.R. trophy for the week. Now that we have more books available to read, we are able to take more quizzes. They are motivated to win that trophy!
Everyday in Math, we are using the dry erase envelopes. They use them to work out problems and to teach their partners. We also use them in Spelling to practice writing their Spelling words.
This project has really boost my teaching and students' learning. My students are more engaged and active in their learning. They are able to take a hands on approach when using the Ipads and the dry erase envelopes. I have noticed an improvement in fluency for many of the students. Being able to access reading material of different genres is helpful!
Again my students and I would like to thank you for funding our project! These little students are so excited to have access to these resources!”
