Working from home is not something that comes to mind when being a teacher. With grit and determination, my students and I charged forward to make the best out of this situation. Video conference calls and teacher-made instructional videos helped us stay connected. The use of a document camera will allow me to present real-time instruction during video conference calls. The document camera has been a staple in our physical classroom, but since we are home-bound, the familiarity of it has been missing and the immediacy that makes teaching and learning personal has been stripped from its core. The combination of document camera and good quality cell phone video recording will allow me to transform video conference calls with students into lessons reminiscent of the physical classroom. In the future, these items give me options to implement the idea of the flipped classroom. Being able to create videos and interactive lessons that can be accessed by students in advance of class will generate more time for collaborative learning.
