I teach Deaf Special Needs students in a public high school. My students thrive on real life experiences, so we take a field trip once a week. We have gone to markets and farms to learn about the foods we eat. We went to the ice cream factory to see the manufacturing process of our favorite frozen treat. They taste Ethnic foods to broaden their palate. It would greatly supplement these experiences to have kitchen equipment for my students, to incorporate the lessons they learn into practical life skills. This would be a huge step toward their independence.
