Many of my students struggle with academics because they are at times 2 years behind academically. I work at a school where 100% of our students receive free lunch and breakfast. My students are all from vast diverse backgrounds. We have students of many ethnic backgrounds: Hispanic, Asian, Haitian, Caucasian, African-American, Native American, and Caribbean, just to name a few! They are always eager to learn, but frustration settles in with many because they are years below grade level academically. Many of them have never been exposed to many of the wonders of the world around them simply because they do not have the resources.
