  • Block the Virus, Not the Learning!!

    Funded Sep 3, 2021

I hope all is well. Class 403 use the shields daily to safely interact with their peers during peer reading, group discussions and partner work. The scholars were so excited when they first seen the sneeze guards. The scholars and their parents were thankful for us thinking about their child's safety.

In addition, looking a head my scholars will be safely interacting in more hands on projects. Instead of simply listening to a teacher lecture about a given subject, the scholars engages with the subject matter to solve a problem or create something. hands-on learning brings so many benefits to my scholars, including:

-It is a more engaging way to learn

-It can lead to increased retention

-It can offer practice in problem solving and critical thinking

    - It often results in a physical creation

We would continue to think outside the box to elevate the curriculum for our scholars.

We thank you for your support. Please take a minute to look at the pictures of our safe learning environment that you helped make happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richards

  • Empowering Scholars to Control Their Learning Environment.

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Thank you so much. We truly appreciate your generosity. We are happy to get these new items in our classroom. Thank you for taking an interest in our project. My scholars were so thrilled to hear that our project got funded. They love having the option to choose their learning station. My scholars need to move around during the school day and rock & lean while still learning. When my scholars are comfortable, they are more alert, stay on task, and are productive. Flexible seating allows for my scholars to find and use their best way to be effective and focused throughout the class. Thank you for Allowing my scholars to choose and identify how they learn best.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Richards

With our scholars returning to in-person learning full-time, these materials will make a difference in my students' education because they will allow them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean, or stand. This type of seating has been noted to increase oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength. In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep students with disabilities' minds more alert and focused. Furthermore, this is a significant improvement and the correct direction in education because the goal for all students is to allow them to have a choice in their education. Having a choice in seating allows the students to feel empowered and will enable them to have some control over their environment.
