This books will help them see differences in genres in their independent reading time. Independent reading is a huge component in the Balanced Literacy Component and it's effective to help them acquire high order thinking skills. Research has proven that the more time they have to independently read will help them and also the exposure to different genres will make them succeed in their lives. Inferences and Connections are skills that they lack the most and with more variety of books, book talks and conferences with the teacher, I think this will be an amazing start for them especially in Third Grade.
