A Virtual World!
Funded Aug 12, 2020I would like to thank you for your generosity in helping me purchase the Microsoft Surface Pro, the mouse, stylus-pen and the keyboard for my digital classroom. I can now access many digital resources that I previously could not because of outdated equipment. This has been immensely helpful during online distance learning. The Surface Pro has allowed me access to applications and other digital resources available to teachers that were not supported on my outdated equipment. With these digital resources, I have been able to focus on creating lessons which is an emphasis on student interaction while they are on Zoom.
For instance, on Padlet, I can post a question and students can answer it in real time. They are able to add images, gifs, and videos as their responses as well. Students appreciate that they can be active participants in their learning and not be passive behind a screen. Without the Surface Pro, I could not have created effective and engaging lessons.
I have utilized the stylus pen on Microsoft One Note to serve as a "virtual whiteboard." This allows students to connect with me, follow along, and grasp concepts with ease. As I conduct class, students can see what I am writing, just like in a physical classroom. I also use the stylus pen to write on students' work and give them feedback. In addition, OneNote allows me to organize documents for each of my classes in a digital notebook.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Lopez
