  • Our School Broadcasting Club Project!

    Funded Jun 21, 2024

On behalf of the entire Broadcasting Club at College Point Collaborative (MS 379) I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous donation of video equipment. Your support has truly made a difference in our program, and we are excited to share the wonderful opportunities it has created for our students.

Thanks to your contribution, we are now able to produce weekly announcements that highlight the voices and talents of our students. The equipment has not only enhanced our regular broadcasts but has also given students the chance to record speeches for competitions, helping them develop confidence in public speaking.

Beyond the technical skills of recording and editing, your donation has brought out the best in our students, particularly those who may have been too shy to participate in the past. The equipment has provided a space for them to express themselves, learn new skills, and engage with their peers in ways that were not possible before.

We are truly grateful for your generosity and for believing in the potential of our students. Your support is helping shape their futures and create a community of learners who are excited about the possibilities of creative expression.

Thank you once again for making such a meaningful impact on our Broadcasting Club and on the lives of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schweizer

  • Art Class

    Funded Dec 15, 2014

Words can't begin to describe how grateful I am for all of the wonderful art supplies. The kids were so thrilled and honored that you chose our class to support in their creative endeavors. They couldn't get into the supplies fast enough, especially cartoon drawing kits. As you can see from the pictures we've uploaded, they have been busy using the pencils, markers, and crayons and coming up with their own works of art on a regular basis. There are so many talented children in the class, and everyone has been embracing their inner artists!

In addition to the drawing kits and art supplies, they have also been discovering the joy of origami. A lot of them have never attempted it before, yet they immediately took to the process and have come up with many interesting pieces that have been displayed in the assistant principal's office. Their enthusiasm simply cannot be dimmed, and it shows in all their efforts.

Being able to offer them supplies that have lasted so long has instilled a sense of appreciation for gifts, and they have been taking very good care of all their tools. The instructional guides have been instrumental to me, as I have been pinch-hitting as an art teacher this year. My skills are not quite up to par with the kids, but I live by the mantra of trying that I've taught them, and it helps that I can offer guidance in other ways throughout the year.

We are all very grateful for your kindness, and for the amazing things that are accomplished with Donors Choose.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schweizer

  • Printing Handouts

    Funded Jan 6, 2014

Thank you so much for your generous donation of the printer and copy paper. I can't tell you how much of a Godsend it has been in my classroom. There have been occasions when a student needs some additional materials to help him or her with an assignment. Whereas before I would have to make a note to myself and print something out later in the day, I can now run off study guides, and extra-help notes at a moment's notice. Plus if a student loses a handout (it happens to the best of us!) I can easily provide extra copies so they don't miss out or fall behind. They've also been able to type up essays at home and print them out in class. Since many of them have access to computers but no printers, they can take pride in their work as they bring in a drive and print out heir finished work in the classroom.

On a more fun note, the scanner has served me very well as head of the school's yearbook committee. Our kids have been able to get more involved in the creation of the yearbook by scanning photos, printing out questionnaires and polls, and scanning original artwork.

I will always be grateful for the kindness that was extended to me and my students, as we will benefit from this gift for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Schweizer

My kids work incredibly hard to be successful. In 2012 they endured the chaos and destruction of Hurricane Sandy, and they continue to persevere in spite of that terrifying situation. Many of them had to flee their homes or live without power or heat, and they still came to school and gave it their all. Some of them have made real progress with their reading and writing skills. I want to help keep them on track with the necessary supplies. The teachers in my school are some of the most resourceful and self-reliant people I've ever known. We don't have a lot to work with budget-wise, so it's necessary to cut corners where we can, and be as creative as possible. The students are always appreciative of any extra contributions we can get that will help the learning process.
