  • Computer Connections

    Funded Mar 10, 2012

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. You help has brightened the students day each day we work on projects. They are so excited to be able to work on their videos, PowerPoints and pictures in multiple areas of the school now thanks to the MacBook Pro. The graphic arts teacher even said a few students have come by his room in the morning to work now that we have the compatibility for students to be able to use a Mac computer in more than one room. Students can now put their work from the Macs in their graphic arts class on their drive and access it in my room.

Students who are not in the graphic arts classes are also becoming interested in Macs as well. They really have only been exposed to desktop PC's and this new technology is exciting to them since it is so compatible with their iPhones, iTouches and iPads. Thank you so much for giving my students the opportunity to learn a new piece of technology as well as work on projects and papers in more than one part of our school.”

  • Seeing Is Believing And Learning

    Funded Dec 29, 2011

environmentalexplanationsdocument Thank you so much for your fabulous contribution to the project Seeing is Believing for my students. They are so excited to be getting this fabulous new docuement camera to use in class for projects, visual explainations and to be able to show better pictures that everyone can enjoy. We truly appreciate your time and effort to supporting both our class and DonorsChoose.

It is only with contributions from you that our students can continue to have such high quality education in these difficult times. You donation will really allow my students to increase their technology knowledge base and use and I cannot thank you enough. I can not wait to put a protist on the document camera so the students can see it swimming around in the water or for the class to show each other their pillbug behavior as they expose them to different environments. I know the students will appreciate the document camera during their upcoming environmenal projects as well to show their different brochures they designed to the entire class.

Thank you again for all of your support for the public school children in South Carolina as well as other states. I truly appreciate your support of both my classroom and DonorsChoose.”

  • Materials at Your Fingertips

    Funded Oct 24, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. It is so great to know that there are individuals out there that care about students and want to provide them with the materials and tools to be successful in school.

These materials will allow students to complete time-distance graphs showing the different lines in color. Students will be able to use the colored pencils to draw what they see under the microscope so when they look at their lab they remember what they were looking at. They markers will also allow students to create beautiful posters for their Public Service Announcement Project as they design a "billboard" that informs people as they drive by the sign.

Thank you again for your generous donation to my classroom. My students and I are thrilled to have supporters like you.”

  • Flipping Out Over Nature Videos

    Funded May 6, 2011

Thank you so much for your donation to this project. Flipping Out Over Nature Videos is a project that will engage students for the years to come as they get to become the photographers and directors for their own videos to show one another what they see.

Since education budgets have been slashed so much over the years, much of the technology and extra items to get students engaged and excited have been left on the "want" list until budgets get better. The problem is, the students will have moved passed the grade level and graduate without the experiences we desire for them.

Thank you so much for giving my students the chance to have a new experience, and one they will never forget. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and dedication to the students in the classrooms today.”

  • iPad Science Studies

    Funded Feb 10, 2011

Thank you so much for your donation to this project for an iPad for Science Studies. These pictures are from a Saturday morning extra test site that my class completed at a local creek. Students could bring their younger brothers or sisters along to help with the water testing. The students loved being able to put their data into an excel spreadsheet right away and compare their results with one another. This really allowed students to see another application for technology in field work. The students were excited to use a new piece of equipment in science and gave me plenty of other new applications for the iPad.

It is thanks to donors like you who make my wishes and dreams come true for my students while also allowing them to grow and learn more about what science, technology, engineering and math links are out there and can be incorporated. Thank you for supporting my students and myself.”

  • Water Monitoring for a Healthy Environment

    Funded Nov 16, 2010

Thank you so much for your donation to this project. Teaching kids about the environment is so important and having them learn simple ways to test their local water supplies with easy to use materials is a great way for them to see the impact the local community has with their yardwork, landscaping, washing cars and other daily around the house chores. By investigating how this impacts the local water supply, students can then make positive changes in the environment that are helpful for the organisms that live there.

Your donation will help me continue to teach students about water quality for years in the future. Thank you so much for caring and donating to DonorsChoose to support students and teachers like me. ”

  • Gaining Those Science Process Skills

    Funded Oct 4, 2010

Thank you so much for providing the supplies for my students to work on their science process skills. Science skills is one of the hardest and most abstract concepts for students to grasp although, it may be the most fun. Students who do not have a strong science background have a very hard time identifying the independent and dependent variables as well as following procedures and practicing safety. Your donation of the materials to perform chromatography truly allows students to gain practice with these skills as we move forward in our curriculum.

Thank you so much for believing in my students and myself and donating to my project. I truly believe that all students deserve hands on science experiences and I truly appreciate you making that possible for these students.

I appreciate your donation to DonorsChoose.org and my project. I hope you will continue to help fund projects for teachers in the future.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. I”

  • What's in the Water?

    Funded Jul 31, 2010

Thank you so much for your fabulous donation of the materials that enable us to study the water quality in the local streams and creeks around our school. I cannot tell you how much my students have enjoyed being able to take data over the past few months and compare their results time and time again. It makes the changes in the environment more real to them when they can actually see the differences that occur with their own eyes.

Students began bringing in water from their local neighborhoods to test and compare their results as well. This enabled the students to hypothesize what may be happening above and below the school creeks. It is exciting to see them get involved and extremely interested in something they took for granted was always there for them.

Thank you so much for supporting teachers like me at DonorChoose.org. I hope you will continue to make an impact in student's lives as you have in my students.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. I”

  • What's in the Soil?

    Funded Apr 22, 2010

Thank you so much for your fantastic donation to our classroom. Without your help my students would not be as nearly engaged or have the ability for the hands on science that is so important for inquiry process skills. As we discussed soil quality the kids got so excited to be able to go outside and use their newly acquired knowledge in a real life application.

We spent time outside today and kids were able to use the soil sampling tube to dig into the ground and pull out various horizons. The conversations that occurred were amazing. Students knew that soil was suppose to have different colors but to really see there the horizons made the content real for them. In addition, one area that we wanted to test had a creek there last year. Now, due to the lack of rain, there is no water and students were able to apply their weather and water cycle knowledge to why there is no water. It was fantastic to see the light bulb come on as they made connections and talked about how it looked like the beach since the water had evaporated and realigned itself to a lower point on the land due to the low water level.

As students moved into the separation of the soil particles and testing of pH, their discussions included how soft the different soils were and how the textures varied. We discussed the importance of many types of layers in the soil and the weathering process again as well due to the water cycle and geochemical means. Many of the students are wanting to take the soil sampling tubes home to get dirt form their house so that we can make comparisons.

Thank you so much for making this learning come alive and giving my students the ability to be "real scientists" as I heard them say today. Without your donation it would be difficult to continue to give kids such experiences!!! Thank you again. ”

  • Microscopes For Macrobiology Studies

    Funded Jan 12, 2010

This is just a small thank you for your generous donation to my classroom in order to allow students to view microscopic organisms. The microscopes your donation purchased for us have increased the student's engagement in studying macro-invertebrates and enlightened them to the microscopic world of living creatures.

With the economic downturn and cutting of school budgets it is people like you that will continue to help keep students engaged in the classroom with equipment to provide hands on learning experiences to make the world around them real. The students that I teach come from an economically challenged background and having people donate money to their classroom allows them to see others care about them and their education.

Thank you for taking an interest in my students and their education through environmental studies. We truly appreciate you!!!”
