  • Rocking Robots

    Funded Feb 27, 2025

Thank you so much for donating to our class project "Rocking Robots." My students had a blast putting them together. They worked with each other to make sure that everyone's robot worked properly.

To see my students use their scientific skills to keep figuring out how to make the robot move around on the paper was mind blowing. It made me smile to see them smile when they figured it out.

They were able to make different graffiti designs with the robot, once they learn it could be done.

My students are now looking for the next project they can do before the end of the year.

Thank you so much for helping me allow my students to think outside the box and expand their learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Broadhurst

  • Girl's of Distinction

    Funded Feb 14, 2025

I really would like to thank you funding our project. The Girls of Distinction looked very nice in their pink shirts.

They make sure to dress out every Wednesday with their pink shirts and black bottoms. Having them in their uniform, sets them apart from the other students, and make them feel like the leaders they are.

The girls were excited to try the shirts on, they helped each other picked the correct sizes so they can look like professionals.

The first time they wore them, we did an etiquette class, they had to first match items on the table, then they set up and actual table. That's what the picture shows.

I was able to get a few young ladies in the picture because the other ones were sick.

Again, thank you for funding our pink shirts for our club.”

    Ms. Broadhurst

  • Reading Is Fun

    Funded Sep 30, 2024

First, the students looked the books over to decide which book they would read first as a class. We then voted on how we were going to read the books in order. They decided to read "a long way gone Memoirs of a Boy Solider," "The Voting Booth," and "Black Boy Joy" as the last book. They choose the order because "The Voting Booth" would be around voting time and they would be able to understand how things were going to work.

Reading the Memoirs of a Boy Soldier, has one of my students wanting to join the Army when he gets older. Exposing my students to different books allows them to travel away from their own issues and embrace new ideas.”

  • We Want Snow Cones

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

My students were so excited to see the snow cone machine. They started telling me what kind of snow cone they wanted. The snow cone was a great incentive in class. They couldn't wait for me to purchase a cart to place the snow cone on so we could sit, chat and eat snow cones outside.

First, they were able to mix the juices to create their own special flavors. It was like a science experiment to them.

    Next, we crushed the ice.

Last, they ate snow cones and enjoyed social hour. I think this by far, was one of their favorite projects.

Thank you so much for making dreams come true for our class.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Broadhurst

  • Gearing Up for a New School Year!

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much for funding our class project.

The colorful lanyards, mechanical pencils, journals, erasers, earbuds, and the motivational pencils were all a great hit with the students. They choose the lanyard that matched their personalities.

My students watched "The Freedom Writers," and began journaling in their journals. They were able to connect how keeping track of their personal thoughts can helped them sort through many issues they face daily.

We really do appreciate all the great things we received, and to know they will last for the entire school year.”

  • Print Out Behaviors

    Funded Apr 2, 2024

My students and i would like to thank you for funding our printer. It has made things easier for students as well as myself when it comes to printing out their assignments.

My students like the fact that they could create things on laptops and send them to me print out. When assignments or projects had to be done they had access to a printer. They no longer had to wait several days or have their parents or myself pay to have things printed for them.

One of my students that love to draw, was greatly excited about the new printer, she felt like it was her personal birthday gift. She drew beautiful designs and pass them out to students and staff around the school.

Thank you again for making dreams come true in our classroom.”

  • Solar Power

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

My students were thrilled when the material arrived, they could not wait to open them up and get right to work. Once we completed our book lessons we went straight to seeing our projects come alive.

Students were paired in groups, and were allowed to choose the way they wanted to work. Some of the students chose to work on the carpet while others chose to work on the table. Students decided they wanted to compete with each other, so they were given a time to complete their solar car. Once completed they went outside to test their model solar car. Some students car did not work the first time so they had to come back to the table to record data and correct any mistakes and then retry their car.

The next model they wanted to build was the wind powered fan, but we had to wait for till it was windy for them to try it. Some students fan did not move so they came together and tried batteries to make the fan move. They had to record why their fan did not move. Some of them did not follow all of the directions, so they had to removed the batteries and try again, and they noticed the fan moved.

I thank you for donating to our class and helping me bring Science to life for my students.”

  • Hyped About Hygiene!

    Funded Sep 5, 2023

Thank you so much for helping our class create a hygiene closet for students to go get supplies they need to help them feel good. My students created hygiene bags which included: deodorant, body wash, toothpaste, and a toothbrush and placed them in a closet for individuals to use. They felt the packages should be placed in the locker rooms so students could have access to them after physical education class. We spoke to the coaches and they agreed, and so my students put them in the girls and boys locker rooms.

The next thing on our list is to try and get a snow cone machine to use as an incentive for students when they are caught doing the right thing.”
