Let's Learn Circuits
Funded Dec 21, 2017My students were excited to hear that they were able to make their Wobble Bots once we got back from Winter Break. The fourth grade students had so much fun researching and building their bots. They were able to share this excitement at our January Student Showcase where a few students showed off their Wobble Bots to the whole school. After that it was on, I had students from kindergarten to third grade asking when they were going to make their Wobble Bots. The students are still asking if they can make another one or even start one. This has been the most talked about STEAM project of the year.
The Snap Circuits has also been a big hit with my fourth grade students. Whenever they get their work done early they always ask if they can use the Snap Circuits. I've also used the Snap Circuits with my afterschool STEAM club. The students like to work through the projects one by one; they don't even want help from me. One student figured out how to record and play back while another set up the circuits and picked up a FM radio station.
These materials have really made the whole school excited about STEAM and learning. Thank You.”

Listening Center
Funded Dec 4, 2015I want to thank you again for funding cd listening players and books on Cd's for my class. The results are amazing; students are racing to listen to the books and wanting more. Over the month that we've been in school with the cd players and books my lowest reading group has increased their fluency rate by 15 more words per minute. On average the class has increased their fluency rate by 21 words. One student increased his rate by 33 words per minute. These are amazing results in such a short time.
Your donate has really made much more of an impact on my students reading fluency than I could of hope. I'm amazed at how far they have come in such a short time. Again, thank you for give us a reason to celebrate such a wonderful success.”

Reading To Learn
Funded Feb 10, 2016Thank you for your continual support of my students each year. The funding of this project will help my student become independent readers. They will have books on their reading level to practice the skills and concepts they're learning in class.
These books will give my students the extra motivation to complete the Read to Self center of their rotation. My students always get excited about getting one new book in the classroom library and now they will have a whole set to get excited about.
Thank you for helping my students become successful readers and learners.”

Tech Savvy
Funded Jan 16, 2014I want to thank you for donating to Tech Savvy so that my students have the opportunity to experience different computer formats. The students have really enjoyed exploring what they can do with an iPad mini and using them for learning. Many of the students have found using the camera for pictures and video to be very easy to use. They love using the different options within the camera to change the pictures and video.
The students have found games and apps to help them increase their reading level, math fluency, vocabulary, and science skills. The students have also found that there is a difference between the iPad and pc format. They have learned that some programs and Internet games will not work on the iPad mini and vice verse.
I have been able to use the iPad mini as an extra incentive for some of the most difficult behavior students in my class. They enjoy earning the opportunity to have extra time using the iPad mini. Thank you for giving my students a chance to experience something that will help increase their ability to succeed in school and the future workplace.”

Reading With Kindles
Funded Sep 9, 2013I want to thank you for donating to help my students become better readers. I posted this proposal without telling my students; when I informed them that we were funded they immediately began arguing who was going to get to read from them first.
They have been using the Kindles to read about bullying, animals, Native Americans, and local and national news. My struggling readers enjoy the Kindles because they can listen to stories and hear interesting, grade level books being read fluently. Over the last two months they have read 8 different stories, increased their reading levels, increased their STAR Reading scores by about a half of school year.
Other ways that we've used our Kindles are in math. The Kindles have helped my students understanding of multiplication, divisions, and fractions. My students have started using the math apps on the Kindles and their STAR Math scores have increased by almost a years growth since September. My class went from 1 student on grade level in math according to STAR Math to now six students. This is an amazing increase for my school.
I've also used the Kindles with my four most behaviorally challenging students as a reward. These students have had a decrease in behavior issues since getting to use the Kindles for extra time when they meet their behavior goal.
All my students have enjoyed the Kindles and are excited about reading. The impact of the Kindles has far exceeded my expectations. It's great to see my students excited to read and their reactions when I share their assessment information with them. I actually have students who are now stating that they are readers. Again, thank you for helping my student become the readers they deserve to be.”
