Students Love to Read Manga!
Funded Mar 23, 2022Thank you so much for the donation for the Manga books. Unfortunately, soon after receiving the books, I was moved to a different school and so my students were not able to enjoy them with me.
A colleague gratefully took then for her students: she was eager to share them with her students, and I know they are grateful for the opportunity to read them for class credit.
I wish that my students, especially the one who drew the graphic for this project, were able to use them, but I don't know which teacher took my place, or if there was a substitute until they could find a replacement.
Either way, thank you for your generosity. I wish that I could have brought them with me to my new school, but it is not allowed in DonorsChoose policy.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Jauregui
Digital Literacy Begins Now!
Funded May 4, 2022Thank you for the support with the mice for my students. They have eased the instruction of different functionalities of Google, especially Google Slides. Now, instead of giving them graphic organizers or other forms, students can easily create their own with the mice instead of fumbling with the trackpad.
The students are used to the trackpad, but now they are learning another way of manipulating their computers. This is helpful into the future as they enter the workforce, where many times the mouse helps speed up work over the trackpad. Either way, the functional use of the mouse, especially "right click," is another tool in their toolbox of skills for a tech ready future.
The impetus for this idea was a student who asked me for one because he was having trouble with creating shapes using the trackpad. Another student had trouble "right-clicking" for drop-down menus. At the beginning of this year, in a new school with a new group of EL students, they see how they can learn advanced functionalities in Google that regular students have trouble with, and all because they have easy access to a mouse, furnished by your generosity.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Jauregui
