Chart It!
Funded Sep 7, 2013My students are always excited when something new shows up at our classroom. You may think that charts and markers are nothing special, but to my students, everything that we are given is important. I was immediately able to use some of the Sharpie markers to write directions for a whole class project. The variety of colors allowed me to color-code jobs for each student. The students will be doing partner work this week, and we will be able to use the new markers to write on our dry erase boards to show our learning when comparing numbers. We are also currently charting our progress for our addition fluency.
It is important to have bright, colorful displays in a classroom. It keeps the room looking cheerful. It is also important to always display usable information, such as process charts, vocabulary, student success stories, and much more. The chart paper and variety of markers is making these opportunities very easy. Thank you so much for giving us these simple tools that are used in everyday learning.”

Building Number Sense for Mathematicians!
Funded Nov 6, 2013Your donation to purchase this resource has helped many students in many ways. The first grade students are hard at work reading texts with their teacher to build their number sense for fluency in addition and subtraction. The third grade students are busy in small groups making number bracelets with beads and pipe cleaners that they can use to help them solve addition and subtraction problems. The number bracelets are self-checking, so students are able to monitor their own answers and improve their fluency.
Soon the second graders and kindergarten will also be accessing the texts and creating their own number bracelets as the year goes on. This resource is great for older students for remediation and younger students for introduction.
Thank you so much for your contribution. it's exciting to see the growth in number sense and fluency.”

From Messy to Marvelous: Storage Needed
Funded Dec 18, 2012We are just beginning our units on life cycles and subtraction, and the students are very excited.
Following our unit on plants, we will study the life cycles of animals, including a butterfly. After our studies, we will be creating habitats that include both plants and animals that are native to a certain area. The students will be able to use all of our great craft supplies and math manipulatives to create their habitats and solve problems. Because of you, the materials are organized in bins, which are color coded. The students will be able to access anything that they need to both science and math projects. Also, the shelves have allowed me to get supplies out of boxes and sort them, so that students may have an easier time finding and using them.
Thank you for your generosity. Your donation is very appreciated, and it is having a direct impact on student learning.”

Even Young Scientists Need Science Tools
Funded Oct 15, 2012We are just beginning our unit on life cycles, and the student are very excited. Over the weekend, the students' bean seeds have sprouted. They will be able to measure them and create line plots. They will also be learning about the life cycle of a plant.
Following our unit on plants, we will study the life cycles of animals, including a butterfly. Our caterpillar are due to arrive any day now, and your generous donation is what provided us with the larva and homes for them to live in.
After our studies, we will be creating habitats that include both plants and animals that are native to a certain area. The students will be able to use all of the great craft supplies, including construction paper, foam, paint, and clay to capture their ideas in their own design of a habitat.
Thank you for your generosity. Your donation is very appreciated, and it is having a direct impact on student learning.”

Funded Jul 24, 2012Dear Starbucks,
This is just a small token of appreciation of your donation. My school is currently facing a budget crisis. We have made a lot of academic progress over the past 2 years, and some of our funds have dried up. Last year, we were able to purchase new students desks. However, this year, there was no room in the budget for any new furniture or supplies.
Your contribution enabled my classroom to be equipped with a table that is perfect for meeting with small groups of students. I am able to call them over to teach them skills, review mistakes, read as a small group, and much more.
Your donation is truly appreciated.”

Organized for Learning!
Funded Dec 2, 2011Thank you so very much for your generous donation to our classroom. For the last quarter of the year, I received many new items from the district. We had hermit crabs, an entire unit on building arrays, and brand new science books arrive in our classroom. The donation that you provided allowed me to have a brand new bookshelf in our room. This bookshelf has served to hold all of the new materials that our classroom received.
Without the bookshelf, the room would have been over-crowded and cluttered. Your generosity allowed us to stay organized, and students were able to access all of the materials that they needed for their learning. The bookshelf will continue to be used by future classes.
Thank your for your support.”

Creative Kids on the Carpet
Funded Dec 27, 2010This note is just a small way for me to say thank you. Your donation to my classroom is tremendously appreciated. The carpet is large enough for all of my students to sit on. They come up closer to our interactive whiteboard for whole class lessons. It is also a nice addition to the room when students are working independently or in centers because it allows them the freedom to move around the room and learn comfortably in a place away from their desks.
A classroom rug may seem like an insignificant item, but it truly is a necessity for developmentally appropriate learning at the primary age. The rug has made everyday instruction simplistic.
Your donations and support to classrooms are encouraging to staff, students, and parents. I appreciate your support.”

Recording To Think And Learn!
Funded Nov 28, 2010My school loves to put students in the spotlight. We have weekly community meetings and trimester Student Led Conferences. Your donation will allow us to video tape students when they are presenting to their peers and their parents and guardians.
The students are very excited to be on camera, and I am excited to be able to collect evidence on their learning by capturing them in action. Your donations have allowed me to do this.
I can't thank you enough for supporting my classroom and my students and their learning. It is truly appreciated.”

Science Inquiry!
Funded Nov 23, 2010Thank you very much for your donation to my science project. The students love the new science centers and are excited to use them more. Also, the video Planet Earth has hugely impacted our studies of animal habitats. The students truly enjoy watching and learning about animals in their natural environments. Most of my students have only seen or learned about wild animals in the zoo. Planet Earth gives them a different window to the world.
The various types of materials donated, which include the video; books; and games, are all very useful in engaging students in science learning. The students will soon be wrapping up animal habitats and watching the changes of the life cycle of a butterfly.
Thank you again for your donation to this project. Science learning is very important. The students and myself appreciate your support.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Parsh
Earth Day Hooray!
Funded Oct 5, 2010800x600
I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for your generosity. My students will love the opportunity to be outside doing math and playing.
It's wonderful to have people like you that take time to acknowledge schools that are struggling. I have friends who teach in New Jersey and in Vermont and they have more resources than they know what to do with. In my school system, we have a very limited resources and it's often difficult to reach out to all of my students. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart for providing a resource that allows my students to learn and grow while doing physical activity that they find enjoyable.
Allowing students to be able to complete the task independently creates a sense of success and makes the experience much more rewarding.
Thank you again,”
With gratitude,
Ms. Parsh
