My students are an especially diverse group, hailing from all over the world. They bring with them a wealth of experiences, ranging from time in refugee camps, arrival to a brand-new country, the ability to converse fluently in a home language, and a variety of cultures to share in the classroom. Many of them have never been in a classroom before, and the Sheltered English Immersion Multilingual classroom is their first experience in American public schools. Most are beginning to learn to speak the English language because of their recent arrival to this country with their families. All of them are willing and are very excited to learn.
