My 4th and 5th grade students are from all over the world and now attend our inner city Boston school. They are of differing language levels and cultural backgrounds. They are refugees from Somalia, Iraq or Albania, children of foreign doctors who cannot practice, sons and daughters of undocumented workers & legal residents- but regardless of how they arrive to me- ALL my students want to learn. They are curious and motivated; they love being read to and using technology. ELL students greatly benefit from visual learning but I am unable to effectively use this teaching method because I do not have the necessary technology.
