Kindergarten Math and Literacy Essentials!
Funded Aug 30, 2022I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of my kindergartners and I. They are practicing so many skills using those math and literacy centers.
My students love using those ice cream cones and scoops to practice counting to ten. It is a fun and engaging way to practice counting. They also love all the counters and ten frames. I also can't leave out the locks and keys. My babies love counting all those stars on those locks and finding the key with the corresponding number on it. I hear all the happy squeals of success whenever we use these centers.
I cannot leave out how helpful and necessary those CVC centers are. This center with the crayon shaped letters makes learning to read words colorful and engaging. Students are so excited to sound out real words and realize that they are emergent readers.
Lastly, I'd like to highlight the importance of having a printer in our classroom. This has made a huge difference in the worksheets that I can provide. This printer has put resources right at my finger tips without having to wait for an available printer and copy machine in our main office.”

Kindergarten Is Essential!
Funded Dec 29, 2021My students and I are so grateful for our materials. I created a cozy reading circle with the couch and the floor seats. We have meetings in this area; we read, we have small group discussions and more. My students absolutely love sitting in this area and it has created excitement around our guided reading time. They can't wait for small group reading time.
I have to share that the day the furniture arrived it was delivered to my classroom during our morning meeting. The students froze and were all wondering what was in all of those boxes. I told them we had presents from some very generous people and I told them that a very special lady named Tracy Walsh, whom I loved dearly made this happen for them. We proceeded to open the boxes together, and as I pulled things out, mayhem and squealing ensued!! It was the sweetest moment of this year thus far. Their excitement was palpable.
This upcoming month we are starting Kindergarten book club! Book clubs will meet in groups of 4 or 5 every day of the week in our beautiful nook. Each group will read a book together and create a group response to the book. They feel so grown up knowing that they are in book club and have a gorgeous, cozy meeting place. Thank you so much!!”

Funded Jan 23, 2020My students and I are very grateful to have all this new technology in our classroom. We are using our new laptops to do research and log into our reading program. We are also using our laptops and headphones to log into iReady. This is a program that helps improve students' reading and math skills. It is customized to meet each student where they are in their skills set and build from there. Many of our students do not have technology at home so being able to have it in the classroom is truly special.
The students love being able to look things up at their leisure. They love being able to pick topics to write about and conduct their own research independently. They also appreciate having headphones that they can use to have books read out loud to them.
My students are very appreciative of anything we get in our classroom. They understand the value in having things that if not for donorschoose we wouldn't be able to afford. They feel a sense of pride and ownership as well as gratitude toward all the people that made them and their learning experience a priority. I am also very grateful on behalf of my kids.”

Funded Dec 22, 2016I just want to let you all know what an amazing gift these seats and this laminate machine have been to our classroom. The swivel stools have been a great asset, especially for those students that learn best when moving around. Those students have been able to concentrate more and get their work done. I have also noticed that the movement while getting their work done has provided them with what they need in order to exhibit active listening skills. The laminate machine has provided us with durable, easy to use math centers. Thank you again!”
