Support Our Orchestra!
Funded Sep 26, 2023Thank you immensely for your contribution to our music room. Things are moving smoother every day and we have more rehearsal time each day.
Every day in our band and orchestra classes, we use a music book that is not supplied by our district as a text book. Many student families are able and willing to purchase the books on their own. Many are not. Your donation has gotten our music books and music playable by beginners into the hands of young musicians in Alaska to get them making music at an early age.
Every day as students walk into their orchestra room, they get an instrument and music set up and ready. We have a "Share" box on a shelf where students who do not have a book can get one and use it for the day. It has become part of our classroom set up routine without taking away valuable rehearsal time.
Our room is also a shared space in our school with other classes and events. Because of this, we try to leave the room cleaner than we found it every day. Before, we had one location for students to move music stands and chairs. They were often in the way of other groups and would get moved or bumped by visitors to the room; that's how things get lost or broken! We now have four racks about the room for storage, a quicker clean up time at the end of each class, and expensive items stored more safely and securely! This means so much to me as a music teacher, and our students get more time to experience the music we are making! Thank you so much for supporting our orchestra.”

Funded Oct 4, 2013I am so excited and thankful for your donation to my project! My vision is that our schools become a place where interacting with technology and art will lead to new discoveries in hearing and creating music.
It is great to know others share a vision for reaching others with music. The equipment you funded will replace outdated and poor equipment. It will be used for listening and help in the recording of our own music that we have created in the classroom! Thank you so much. I can't wait to tell the kids we can finally replace the old, crackling, loud speakers.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Traynor
