My students are from an economically depressed community in Illinois. The school that they attend is comprised of students that are 95% low-income, 65% African American, and 25% Hispanic. My class consists of a handful of the MOST mathematically gifted students in my school. They are extremely excited about the opportunity to both learn calculus and to have the chance to receive college credit through the AP program. They are both nervous and excited by the challenge of the AP test at the end of this school year.
