  • Reward and Motivate!

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you so much for your donation and help to motivate my students. Upon hearing that on Friday's, our class will visit the treasure chest for weekly rewards, the excitement was unbelievable. The ohhhh, wow's that all of the students were exchanging felt so warm to hear since they had not been in school for over a year.

Once a month we pick a student of the month for having great work and behavior. Their prize is bigger than the weekly prize, they get a certificate, star pencil, and bracelet. Every week, the students remind me that its prize box day and they are so eager to go to the treasure chest.

Thanks to you, you have helped me motivate students to do well every week so they have the opportunity to go to the treasure chest. They are all doing so well and I am so happy.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Flexible Seating

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Thank you so much for helping us with our flexible seating project! When the items arrived, the students were so excited and the room filled with "wow's", "oooohhhh's and aaaahhhh's". They just couldn't stop talking about it. Moments like these, just melt my heart because they were so thankful for the materials. The sofa and textured pillows make a great addition to our classroom library. Everyone always wants to go and read on the comfy sofa while holding one of the pillows or stuffed animals. Its amazing seeing them enjoying reading! The flexible seating stools have been a great resource for my students who have a difficult time sitting. They have become very good at transitioning themselves from sitting on the rug or their seat to a stool when they need change. I am so happy to see them continue to be engaged just from changing their seat while before they would need a little break. The bands on the desks have also helped students have better seat posture. Some of them would stand or sit on part of their leg but not fully sit in a chair and now with the band they are actually sitting and positioning themselves with their feet on the band.

We are beyond grateful for your support and I can see the difference it has made in their learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Magical Carpet Ride

    Funded Jan 3, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students and I are so thankful that we received the rug we needed. The minute the rug arrived, students were super excited that our rug was so big and colorful with the continents and oceans that we have been learning about. As things come up in our curriculum whether continents, oceans or different animals, they often refer to the images on the rug to compare to what we are learning. There were many "oohs, wows and compliments.

We use the rug daily for various activities such as morning meeting where we begin our day, where we sit to listen to stories being read aloud, where we sit to watch and interact with our smart-board, partner reading and when we do small group time with dry-erase boards and other math manipulatives for hands on learning. The students have written thank yous and incorporated their favorite activity to do on our rug. Your kindness is very much appreciated and it definitely made our students feel so excited.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Digital Minds

    Funded Dec 16, 2016

I wanted to thank you for your donations in helping my students get the 3 Chromebooks. When they first arrived in the classroom, the room was filled with excitement and many questions..."Are these for us?", "Can we use them", "It's our luckiest day!" The students and I were beyond thrilled to have such an outstanding resource for our classroom.

The students have been using the Chromebooks for a multitude of activities. During math, we have been using various websites to reinforce addition and subtraction. During literacy, their various tasks depending on the level of the students that they engage in such as some are using websites to practice letter sounds and sight words and some students are reading leveled books at their level. In social studies we have been learning about the continents and oceans and now the students have also been using them to find different maps to use as a resource. These Chromebooks will help my students engage more in their learning and become more successful in each subject.

My class and I send you our deepest, warmest wishes of gratitude! They felt so special knowing that people cared about them and that you were so generous to donate to our class. We appreciate you and your kindness!”

  • Help Me Read!!!

    Funded Dec 27, 2009

My students and I would like to thank you for donating to our class. The radio and books on CD are great. We were so excited when we heard the news that our project had been funded.

In our school district, Kindergarten has a big curriculum and a there is a strong focus in teaching the students how to read to get them ready for first grade. I have also received training from a children's literacy initiative, which taught me so many strategies to get the students ready. One of the components that is ideal is having stories that we read together on tape or CD. Thanks to you, our class can now have another form to learn how to read and develop fluency. When our class goes to centers, they now have a listening center where we put the radio you helped fund and the stories for them to listen to. I also have other books that I have collected over the years so they are exposed to a variety of different types of books.

One of the reasons I love teaching kindergarten is because we have the opportunity to teach these students how to read which is a skill crucial to anyone's success in life. Our class and I thank you for your generosity and hopes you enjoy reading their thank you's which should arrive soon as well as the pictures we posted.

Thank you for helping our class become better readers!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Putting The Pieces Together

    Funded Feb 9, 2009

My class and I are so thankful for your generous gift to fund our project "Putting The Pieces Together". We have been learning so much with all the hands on learning materials. We have received all the materials: playdough, weather, lifecycles and seasons science manipulative's, farm, numbers and alphabet floor puzzles, beginning sounds and sight words manipulative's and math counting manipulative's. The students are having so much fun learning with hands on experiences.

All of the materials as great for students to learn because it provides them with the hands on learning experiences that makes learning easier and fun. I love the beginning sounds and sight words manipulatives because it has helped all of the learners in their letter sounds and now they are becoming such great spellers using the sight words. The sight words builder, allows them to build words letter by letter, which has helped them learn so many words. Its great to hear them say "Mrs. L, I can spell this a new word"! The counting materials has allowed them to use a game setting to increase their number identification and counting skills. They also use the playdough to build numbers and words. One of their favorites is the floor puzzles. The puzzles focus on exactly what we are learning and they love it!

Thank you so much for funding our project! You have helped these students learn a lot of things that they had a hard time understanding by providing funding for all the fund hands on materials. My students are feeling very successful, thanks to you and donors choose!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Paint Me a Picture!!!

    Funded Feb 9, 2009

Thank you so much for helping fund our project "Paint me a Picture"! The students and I can not thank you enough for your generosity. We have put the easel at our art center in the classroom along with the aprons. I purchased some paints and paintbrushes and together we created a painting center.

Everyday when the students come in, the first thing they ask me is "are we going to paint today?". I then tell them that once they finish their classwork or during center time, they will be able to the easel and paint. I have to say that all of the children enjoy painting pictures of the different themes we have been learning about as well as paintings of things they like such as flowers, dinosaurs, food, etc. There has also been students that have written their own little stories and then want to paint pictures for their book cover or pages. It's absolutely amazing at the excitement they have when they are at the easel painting.

I really hope you enjoy the pictures that we took as well as their thank you's. We made thank you books and at the end, I included some of the paintings the students have made at the art center. My class and I want to thank you so much for funding our project "Paint me a Picture"!!! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Bind Into Learning

    Funded Jul 15, 2008

Thank you so much for donating and making our "Bind into Learning" a wish come true. It was hard making our books before because they always came apart or didn't fit right with a staple. We are very happy that now we can bind our books and make them last. Every month we make a book based on our theme as well as alphabet books and a "school year of memories" book. We are looking forward to being able to bind all of the class books that we make. We can't wait to start!

Thank you so much for making our wish come true!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Ditto

    Funded Apr 10, 2008

Thank you so much for funding my project!!! I am thrilled that my project "DITTO" has been fully funded. I am sure that my students will be as excited as I am to receive our copier. It definitely feels good to know that someone out there cared enough to make a donation. Once again, I cannot say it enough how excited I am. Thank you!!!”

    Mrs. L.

I am a first grade teacher. I currently have 29 students in my class. I work at a school that is located in an urban area with a high poverty level. As a teacher, I think its important to reach out to the families and invite them into our school, to take part in their child's learning.
