Music Charms The Soul
Funded Dec 1, 2020Thank You so much for you contributing to my program. We haven't had a chance to do any fundraiser due to so much uncertainty of Covid and you are a blessing because my students have the mouthpieces to participate and learn. Thank You so much again because your generosity because this will allow students have a chance for scholarship opportunities. Many of my students aren't fortunate for their parents to purchase mouthpieces. The ironic thing about the mouthpieces. The day when the goal was met I knew you were heaven sent.”

Funded Sep 15, 2014The students were very surprised when they heads arrived because i never told them i was trying to get them and they are so accustomed in seeing Jackson State University's Drumline also known as War & Thunder playing their cadences on their fiberskyn heads. They were so thankful that people would try to help them and i tell you i have to actually beg them to stop playing their drums because the sound that these heads put out is very controlled and full. The entire sound of the band was enhanced with these drumhead's, it had made a distinct sound for the entire group.
We are using these resources in and outside the classroom. Many drumlines never get to play on fiberskyn heads so it gives the students another sound to gauge on and i actually used a compare and contrast bellringer asking "Explain the difference in sound of the Remo Fiberskyn Heads vs Clear Black Dot Remo Heads"? So we are using the heads for performing and music theory.
This project boosted my teaching and my students learning because for one teaching is much easier when students are happy and they are happy because they have some great sounding bass drums now with the new fiberskyn heads. They like to learn knew cadences and about sound production more with the new heads so it really has enhanced every area within the group. Thank you all for your help and i hope you will continue to support my group to enhance the lives of students.”

This classroom project was brought to life by an anonymous donor and 6 other donors.Building Band In High Poverty Area
Funded Sep 10, 2013If it wasn't for you all i do not know what i would be doing right now as far as leading the class. Your gracious donations has allowed my students to be able to begin the journey of making music. The students were and are very thankful that someone took the time to purchase mouthpieces and other accessories and some of them even cried because their parents couldn't afford mouthpieces, etc. They now see that people care about them and music and they seem very happy that they are learning the fundamentals and basics of music.
The resources are being used daily to accompany the students in being able to learn how to play an instrument. Before i actually pulled out instruments; i allowed the students to only buzz on the mouthpieces to gather the concept on how to produce the sound and buzz properly so the mouthpieces alone helped the cognitive musical development of the students. The oil keeps the instruments in working condition that is very important. The mouthpieces and the ligatures are also a blessing because they are needed for the sax and clarinets. We are preparing for an end of the year concert and with the resources that you have provided our dream will now become a reality.
This project boosted my learning because it helped build my confidence to teach the students because before I learned about the program i was lost and did not know what i would do about mouthpieces and other accessories. As i stated earlier just the purchasing of the mouthpieces allowed me to show the students techniques on how to create the proper sound through technique with just the mouthpiece which allowed the students to better understand sound production. The students are learning so fast and they along with I really thank you and appreciate you all blessing us with these items.”
