Grow, Grow, Grow!
Funded Apr 8, 2019We have started our spring unit of study. We talked and learned about the plant life cycle and then planted our own sunflowers. We planted them in see through cups so that we may see the roots and how it frowns out of the seed. My student have been engaged and love watching their plants grow. Each and every single student planted their own and will be able to take it home next week. I take the seeds out daily and students are taking turns watering them.
When my students first saw the materials they were extremely excited. That same day they wanted to plant their seeds. We had go wait 2 more weeks in order to finish our previous unit of study. As soon as it was time they were engaged and wanted to learn it all.
We are currently entering another part of the unit this part is a out the life cycle of different insects and bugs. They are Learning that plants and bugs have a similar cycle which is endless. They have been eager to learn more and more as we go on in this unit. I am grateful this project was funded so quickly because it allowed the students to be hands on and to be able to take their own learning (plants) home to share with their families.”

K-Learning Fun!
Funded Dec 9, 2018I want to take a minute to let you know that all the resources you helped provide for our classroom have made such an impact in my class. Students are learning to work together to make new projects with gears and Lego's. They help each other build and share with each other when ever their is a new creation. Socialization is something that kindergarten works on daily, but with these resources it has been easier. Our tens frame magnets have made math much more fun and interactive. Being able to manipulate the tens frames has helped some students with their understanding as well.”

Say Cheese!
Funded Jun 20, 2018Our new camera is helping students be able to express themselves in a new way. Some students are very shy when it comes to talking in front of the class but taking pictures and talking about them has made it easier. We are working on a friendship unit and they are taking pictures of what it means to be a good friend. Being able to show me in an image is much easier for them than it is to express it in words. As you know we are beginning kinder so many of my students have yet to learn to write. An image that a camera provides speaks millions.
The most exciting part about using our camera in class is that they can do it themselves. We had a talk about what they can do and cant do with it. How to responsibly hold the camera and take pictures. They are learning about technology. We are planning on how to use it outside and being careful with it. Our new camera is not only teaching technology to my students but it is also teaching responsibility.
I have several students who are very shy but the camera has allowed them to try new things. Taking pictures to express themselves makes them come out of their shell a little bit. The camera has allowed them to use their voice in a different way.”

Ready for Reading
Funded Jul 17, 2014The students love their new books our library has increased in size and they are able to take more reading leveled tests. A.R. reading has increased and the students are more involved in participating with Accelerated Reading. Students love that they have many new books and options to choose from. They are excited to choose new books that help them learn about new topics. They love being exposed to new words that they did not know they could use before these books. They also like that they are able to learn about people like Ann Frank which we don't talk about in class but the book allows them to learn about important historical figures. The new titles are great because they get to read new books. The project has boosted their enthusiasm for learning and reading about new topics.”
