Technology in Language Arts

Funded Sep 9, 2013

Thank you so very much for donating to our classroom. My students are thrilled to have access to an iPad on a daily basis. They thoroughly enjoy and appreciate your kindness in giving them technology opportunities. They love to use technology and they all agree that it motivates them to want to learn. The students were filled with gratitude when I explained to them that people they do not know donated this to help them in their learning process. I was thrilled with their reaction and I cannot describe in words how much it means to me how kind hearted you are.

With the classroom iPad we are able to, as a class, monitor behavior, learn about grammar, engage in vocabulary study, and much more. We currently use an app called ClassDojo where the students are responsible for monitoring each other's positive and negative behavior. This gives them a sense of responsibility in their actions. We frequently use an app to study parts of speech that the students find motivating. In class we read different whole group novels and the iPad has allowed us to have access to audio books through different apps. The students love getting a chance to hear others read to them. As a teacher it is helpful to have the iPad for monitoring students and for student motivation. There is nothing like having a class fully engaged in the learning process and using the iPad helps the students want to learn.

This project, as I have mentioned, has helped my students become more engaged in learning. Students enjoy using the different apps that Apple has for education. Students are also learning to be responsible digital citizens which will help them in their future endeavors. This project has boosted my teaching by giving me a resource that is powerful and supplies many opportunities to bring to life different concepts in language arts. Once again, my class thanks you and will always be touched by your donation.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Johnson
