The Library can be a difficult space for our school's high ESL student population. With 484 students, speaking multiple languages, having access to these materials, we will create a dialogue that moves beyond language, through team-building and group effort cooperation. To provide access to all materials, students will be divided up into groups and will rotate through stations each week while in library. These materials will provide opportunities for students to explore topics beyond a book, where so many ESL students feel stifled with a language they are just beginning to understand. The Library can provide a space where all can feel successful and welcome by providing Makerspace opportunities. This will allow students to have hands-on problem solving experience, to cooperate in a team, and to critically think about their topics, all while making the English language just a small portion of their success.
