  • Bullies are a PAIN!

    Funded Oct 17, 2009

Thank you so much for the, "Bullies are a Pain in the Brain Curriculum." The kids were so excited to get the materials. Each student has their own workbook, journal, and reading book. The set also came with a video that we have watched as a class.

The curriculum deals with being bullied, but also talks about how to change your ways if you are the bully. It incorporates reading, writing, and speaking activities into the lessons, which promote success in the kids' core classes.

One of my students says that her favorite line in the book is, "Bullies are like vampires who suck the self esteem out of you." She is really relating to the information and it is making an impact. The book is humorous and easy to follow and the lessons are entertaining and useful. We are in week 5 of the series and have four more to go. Hopefully at the end, these kids will feel empowered and know how to deal with bullies. If a student is the bully, maybe that will change, too.

Thank you for your generosity and giving spirit!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. S.

  • How to Do Homework Without Throwing Up!

    Funded Sep 15, 2009

I want to let you each know that the materials you bought have made a great impact on our class. The kids were so excited to get the books and have really enjoyed reading them and talking about how each subject impacts their school experience.

We recently read the book entitled, "Stress Can Really Get on Your Nerves." During the process of reading the book the students reflected on how stress personally affects their lives. While reading, they kept a journal every day. Also, each student came up with a personal action plan to deal with stressors they face personally.

The next book we are going to read is, "How to do Homework without throwing up." The class is extremely excited about this one, now that they have gotten one book under their belt. They really like the humor in the books and how each one is written from the student's point of view. The group is already talking about projects they would like to do along with this book.

Thank you for your generosity and giving spirit!

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. S.

Wow! I am overwhelmed! I can not express how excited I am to have this project funded. I am so grateful for your generosity and look forward to sharing pictures with you in the Fall.
