Learn and Grow Through Reading!
Funded Sep 29, 2022Your generosity has been amazing. SO many students were able to get books into their hands and enjoy stories! We are thankful for you thinking of our scholars and helping them love reading. With these books, we were able to explore authors, learn more about characters, and learn comprehension skills through the books. New books are always exciting-the buzz in the classrooms with new books has been wonderful to see. Thank you again for making sure that our elementary students read some fun books!”

This classroom project was brought to life by An Anonymous Classroom Supporter.Launching Our Love For Reading!
Funded Dec 16, 2016I am speechless by the amount of generosity I feel as I write this letter. Over the past few months, our class was able to read beautiful, brand new books. The children have been overjoyed picking out books that interest them, and having colorful pictures! We can't thank you enough!
In our classroom, Reading is an essential of learning. We are reading everyday in the classroom, and children take books home to read at home. With the new books, students have a chance to explore different topics, genres, and interest level books!
Reading in the classroom has different components. We spend time working on phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. Students also have a chance to work in workstations where they are focusing on academic needs. This is my opportunity as a teacher to work in small groups doing guided reading. Guided Reading is a chance for students to read a book one level above their independent level, and learn new strategies for reading. We want to increase their reading level.
My students that really struggle with reading seem to enjoying the new books! They like looking at the pictures, practicing to read sight words, and learning about different stories. We just can't thank you enough. You are a hero in my students' eyes- the amount of generosity is beyond measure, and we will always think of you while we are reading our new books!”

Time for Kids Current Events
Funded Aug 26, 2014We are so happy to have Time For Kids in our class!! The students are so happy to have these magazines and have their own copy. We have implemented the magazines throughout lessons in school, as well as using them for homework. Currently, we have writing and reading nonfiction units going on. It has been great to include the magazines to help students understand nonfiction articles more. They have been able to read the magazines and write facts they have learned. We have also established partnerships reading together. With your generous donation, we are able to understand current events more and become better readers!! We can't thank you enough!!!”

Since the books have arrived to our classroom, students have really shown a great interest during independent reading time! They have become more aware of reading strategies, including looking at pictures and pointing to words as they read, you have definitely made an impact in their future careers as a student. Students have shown excitement to borrow the books and read them in school as well as at home. This makes my heart so happy. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!”
