Each edition of Storyworks Magazine has three feature length articles in fiction, nonfiction, and a play. It also contains shorter articles that can be used in smaller groups for remediation or for teacher modeling of a reading strategy. The magazines are in full color, which helps to capture students attention, and they have engaging topics. Last year my students loved reading about the Loch Ness Monster and the sinking of the Titanic. I will utilize these magazines in each part of the reading block- whole group and small group settings, as well as independent practice, and writing. After we have finished with the magazine in class, students can take it home and continue to practice their reading skills.
