  • Brain Break Corner for Twice-Exceptional Students

    Funded Aug 12, 2024

You are AMAZING!! And right in time for the start of the school year. Thank you so much for your generosity. I will keep you updated on how these funds are going towards supporting the students. My appreciation cannot be overstated. I genuinely believe these upgrades will help students on a daily basis build their mental health and transition skills.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Armenta

  • Creating a Center for Critical Thinking

    Funded Jul 27, 2019

Thank you so much for all your contributions to my classroom! I am pleased to give a few updates on how the project has gone so far. At the beginning of this year, my classes were actually relocated to a more traditional classroom layout, so my plans changed slightly. With the materials provided, I have still been able to create the corner-hub to engage and support students on a daily basis.

It may seem like a small adjustment, but adding the comfortable chair and access to de-stressing toys has proven to be a highlight for many of my students! When I move students to this hub and conference, students are immediately comfortable and willing to engage in smaller group instruction. Students who struggles with anxiety can receive much-needed assistance both academically and emotionally.

I am so appreciative to have a space to do small group work and allow students to work creatively in class and during lunch. Moving forward, I will continue to expand on this area to include more space and allow for more individualized work to be completed in the future!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Armenta

As our school continues to grow, we continue to find ways to utilize physical space and resources to maximize our students' day. This upcoming year, my classes will meet in the school library. I would love to brighten up the room by providing a unique space for students to work in small groups, receive extra support, and feel comfortable expanding on their ideas. The availability of audiobooks, support centers, and social-emotional tools will help my exceptional learners feel more comfortable on a daily basis. I plan on pulling students out in small groups to this space to actively read together, and engage in minilessons & focused review. Taking AP and College-level classes can be stressful for students with additional learning needs, but with additional resources, they can thrive! As the year progresses, my goal is for students to become more independent and self advocate for their individual reading and writing needs by utilizing the space during writing workshops to zoom in on key essay components and clarify misunderstandings. I appreciate any help in this endeavor!
