  • Let's Make Some Art

    Funded Aug 1, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. The kids have been busy reading, and playing games that support their learning to read. Making learning fun and engaging is the best way to teach a child. Because of your generosity my students are building excitement about reading and are eager to learn to read independently. Your impact will be felt for years to come as all of these materials will be used by future classes of mine and will also be shared with 2 other Kindergarten classes this year! Thank you for helping to educate my kiddos this year!”

These materials have been so wonderful for the start of school this year! Seeing kids' faces light up when I tell them we're doing another reading activity is priceless! • Ordinary People Change the World

    Funded Sep 11, 2018

Thank you so much for these incredible resources! It is so very important for kids to have real heroes to look up to, heroes who have contributed to society, heroes who have paved the way for you and I to lead a free year, happier, healthier life. These books give real life examples of heroes from the past and present and bring their contributions to society to the forefront of kids minds. Kids are able to identify a piece of themselves in each of these heroes and see how they can tangibly make a difference in the world that they are inheriting from us. Thank you so much for giving this gift to my students this year, and to my students for years to come.”

  • Paint! Paint! Paint!

    Funded Nov 30, 2016

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to this wonderful project. The purchase of these paints are a wonderful, much-needed addition to the program. Our students are able to get a much better quality and final product with these nicer paints. They learning to treat their supplies with respect and value their time in art class. Most students had no idea they could paint as well as they can. It is so exciting to watch them discover this about themselves. I am also loving that their parents had no idea they were capable of such vibrant, beautiful work. They constantly tell me they love what art the kids are doing in class. They are beyond grateful to have the supplies available to give their kids the best are experiences they can have. Thank you again. We are loving our new paints.”

  • Brushes, Brushes, Brushes!

    Funded Oct 27, 2016

Thank you for the new paintbrushes. With these brushes our students will be learning how to paint with tempera or acrylic paints. We will be making a variety of art projects. Some of these include painted paper for collages, paintings when we learn about famous artists, as well as a very fun no water painted paper technique like the kids are making in these photos. Here we created flowers using no water to rinse our brushes between colors. Instead we learn how to work from our lightest colors first to our darkest colors last. This also allows for them to learn about color mixing while making beautiful painted paper scraps for later use at the same time. These brushes also leave a great texture in the paint that really adds a layer of depth to their art work that they loose with a smooth brush. Thank you again for helping provide these brushes to our students. We are having tons of messy fun with them.”

  • For the Love of Art!

    Funded May 6, 2016

Thank you so much for this donation! The kids have had so much fun working on their sculptures this week! This material was perfect for them as well. They were able to easily manipulate it, but had to really plan carefully to form and connect the wire. The students are so proud of their creations! They also wrote a Haiku and or Cinquain poem to accompany their sculpture. This connection of literacy and art has been incredibly successful. The kids are learning the importance of strong word choice and imagery. They are learning that artists express their emotions in a variety of ways, and as artists themselves, they can do the same. Thank you again for your generous donation to our classroom. You have created a lasting memory for 25 budding artists this year, and helped create a little piece of art they will treasure for years to come!”

I teach second and third grade to an eager bunch of diverse learners. I believe that all children, regardless of where they live, or what their parents do, deserve a quality education. I believe that young children learn best by "having fun" while learning. I know that children learn from one another and so I foster a cooperative learning community. I work at an IB school where children are presented with problem based inquiry learning. I teach my students to be Global Citizens: being tolerant, respectful, communicators, thinkers, reflective, and cooperative. The children of today will work in fields that have not been created yet. They will work to solve problems we don't know exist. They will use technologies that have not yet been invented. I have to prepare them for a world that we can't even imagine. My students are creative problem solvers, thanks to all your generous donations!
