  • More Books Please!

    Funded Oct 21, 2014

Thank you so much for your donation! You should of seen the faces on my students when we opened the box together from Donors Choose! They were so excited, we put the items in its place and used them right away. There excitement to go to workstations to read was priceless! They were not only eager to see what all of the resources we received, but to put them to use.

My students and I use the resources requested every day! The guided reading books are used daily during small group, partner, and whole group reading and browsing box time. Each student now is able to choose from a variety of books that are appealing and interesting to them. They love to explore the different books and continue expand their literacy skills.

This project was a true success! Knowing that there were people out there that donated their money to make our classroom a better place encouraged my students to give back and put the resources given to good use. Furthermore, all the material requested has made our classroom environment more balance literacy rich. Supporting beginning readers and writers is extremely important using a variety of strategies and you made this possible!

Thank you again for your generous donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Grant

My students and I use the resources requested every day! The big books are used daily during whole group shared reading and workstations. Each student now is able to choose from a variety of big books that are appealing and interesting to them. They love to explore the different books and continue expand their literacy skills. Also, we received some books for our classroom library for the students to enjoy during the reading time.

  • Mrs. G's Scientists

    Funded Sep 18, 2013

Thank you so much for your donations! My students were so excited to see the resources we received to put in our science centers! Once we started to open the boxes, there face lit up and it was priceless! My students could not believe there eyes when they saw the magnifying glasses, at which we all had to test out, to help with our explorations.

Furthermore, my students use the resources that we received all the time! We have already covered our senses unit and the students were able to explore hands-on with different manipulatives and activities. We have also used the magnifying glasses in almost all the experiments, including rocks, soil, and water. The other instant learning centers are placed around the room for the students to explore, including color mixing in the art center and exploring light in the science center.

This donation was such a rewarding experience for my students and I. I am not only able to show them science through using a variety of materials, but they are able to experience it with their hands in a meaningful way. My students are very motivated to learn and with the wonderful materials given, they are eager to explore all of it!

Thank you again for your generous donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Grant

  • We Want To Read

    Funded Oct 4, 2013

Thank you so much for your donation! You should of seen the faces on my students when we opened the box together from Donors Choose! They were so excited, we put the items in its place and used them right away. It was like Christmas to them! They were not only eager to see what all of the resources we received, but to put them to use.

My students and I use the resources requested every day! The big book storage bin makes the big books easier for the students to reach and utilize. Once we started to use the resources, the classroom has been different every since. Each student now has a their own place to put the books they are reading and they are proud to grab their individual bin every day to read from it. Also, we received some books for our classroom library for the students to enjoy during the reading time.

This project was a true success! Knowing that there were people out there that donated their money to make our classroom a better place encouraged my students to give back and put the resources given to good use. Furthermore, all the material requested has made my life in the classroom more organized and easier as a teacher. I know longer have to deal with clutter and mess due to the lack of storage.

Thank you again for your generous donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Grant

Our school is a Title 1 school in a low-income area and the majority of my students are English language learners. My students love to come to school and are very curious about the world around them. They especially love science! Unfortunately, because of the rough neighborhoods most of them live in poverty, they have had limited exposure to nature and to the kinds of "science experiences" suburban students have (science museums, field trips, vacations, camps). Our district, like many districts, has no money for "extras" and the materials I have to teach science are very limited. My students need all the hands-on experiences I can provide them with to inspire them to learn and to pursue their interest in science.
