The students that attend our high school are looking for better educational opportunities by being a part of this school district. Our school offers many A.P. courses and even offers an academic institute for students on an accelerated course. Many are coming from Detroit Public Schools, where they are unsatisfied with what they are learning. They are searching for that one teacher or one subject to spark their interest in learning! The foreign language requirements to graduate have changed and now require students to take two years of the same language to graduate. With the increase in students enrolled in Spanish, my need for technology to keep them motivated and interested in the target language is even greater than before. The students at my school need more than the basic textbooks to keep them engaged and on track. They want to incorporate media and technology into their classrooms. They are capable of having a successful and fulfilling high school experience.
