On behalf of all the students of my Kindergarten class, I wanted to express our heartfelt thanks for your generous donation of the vacuum cleaner for our classroom. With gratitude,

    Ms. G.

  • Morning Warm Ups for Kindergarteners!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I can't thank you enough for your support in my classroom. Your donation made possible for students to start the day reviewing skills as they have breakfast. A warm-up activity helps them ease into the classroom and the expectation of learning in a low-key way that isn't stressful. It helps my students with a chance to settle down into the class and get their minds focussed on the lesson ahead. They are enjoying completing the activities and sharing with their peers their independent accomplishments. I highly recommend to others to organically use these time of the day productively with a casual approach.”

    With gratitude,

  • Writing Around the Classroom!

    Funded Aug 23, 2022

I can not thank you enough for your support in my classroom. My students are taking advantage of the pocket charts around the class to practice reading and writing skills. They have been a fun and engaging way to initiate them in a cooperative community of learners. They have been great to practice concept of word, reading and literacy skills like:

Following text with a finger (or pointer)

Reading from left to right and top to bottom

    Distinguishing print from pictures

    Reading simple/familiar high-frequency words

Together we are making a difference in the life of these children!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. G.

  • Four Plus Three Minus Two!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

I can't thank you enough for helping me get quality materials for my class. The counters provide an experience for math that is fun and promotes collaboration and engagement. Math manipulatives are essential teaching tools. They transform the abstract language of math into something that kids can touch, see, and move around. The counters that we were able to obtain through you provides students the opportunity for hands-on activities that allow them to further explore abstract ideas or concepts, especially in math. Counters are an excellent tool that children can use in their attempts to master math skills including counting, adding, subtracting, making patterns and comparing numbers.”

  • Carpets Needed!

    Funded Aug 19, 2022

I cannot express enough my gratitude for your generous support to my classroom. Thanks to your donation my classroom became a place full of color that invites students to learn and feel in a secure place. The carpets not only help us to accommodate and delimit learning spaces but also they have become learning tools. Students use the number carpet to learn to count and recognize numbers while jumping. In our alphabet carpet students are seating and sorting uppercase and lowercase letters. The third carpet is used in the math center and also serves as a meeting since for small group instruction. Please be reassured that your donation is in good use and making a good impact.”

  • Building Creative Minds in PreK4!

    Funded May 18, 2022

I can't thank you enough for the materials you donated to my classroom. These materials are allowing them to integrate art, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among other skills. Through play they are learning how magnets work and they are becoming curious of the uses of magnets in other items. They are learning about engineering and design by building creative structures and problem solving on how high they can go with them or how much weight their building can take. Based on these, they add and subtract which helps them learn concepts such as more and less, on and off, and size, colors and shapes. All these nurtured thanks to you. We would have not had access to these materials if it was not for you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. G.

  • First Time Writers and Readers!

    Funded May 23, 2022

I can't thank you enough for the materials that you kindly donated to my classroom. These materials foster early literacy habits by helping them develop a rich vocabulary, self expression, and reading comprehension. All of these are tools they need to be one successful readers and lifelong learners. My emergent readers understand that writing conveys a message. The variety of pictures allows them to get ideas and inspiration to create lists and sentences using high frequency words, scaffolded writing and drawings to convey a message. Literacy is essential to developing a strong sense of well being and citizenship. Thank very much for the impact you are making in the life's of my students.”

  • Literacy Online Opportunities for PreK4

    Funded May 10, 2022

I appreciate immensely your support with the materials that I requested to enhance with technology the literacy center in my classroom.

Thanks to you my students have access to platforms that offer access to fantastic books that they can listen and read. These digital libraries provide an array of children's books. Kids can choose their interests, browse by category and see eye catching book covers. It makes listening to and reading books incredibly appealing. It is also a great tool for developing fluency when they listen to books read aloud because they are hearing strong fluency modeled. I can't thank you enough for the impact you are making. Our students are enjoying it very much.”

  • Safe and Purposeful Play

    Funded Nov 15, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous contributions. Thank you for supporting the health and safety of our classroom. The vacuum cleaner has allowed us to clean fast and efficiently our space after breakfast and lunch. Nap mats are laid on super clean surfaces. These has allowed us to maximize learning time. The printer has helped us print colorful pictures that we use as scaffolds that enhance learning in our centers for our young language learners and most importantly allows our students to use them as a guide to move around the learning area independently and use all available activities. Playdough is always exciting for our children specially when we can offer good quality playdough like the one that you allowed us to obtain. Students use it for molding uppercase and lowercase letters that they are learning. We can't thank you enough for what you have done for us!”

Thank you for considering support to cover the startup costs for our Pre-Kindergarten Spanish Immersion class this year. My classroom is in a culturally diverse neighborhood in Washington, D.C. Our classroom has many essential early childhood materials which includes a Spanish classroom library, new block sets, and various games that students can play during center time. But because our classroom is a work-in-progress, we are still in need of grant money to make smaller purchases. The DCPS curriculum uses the new "tools of the mind" curriculum, which emphasizes play as a means of promoting self-directed learning. I would like to add a supermarket learning station. We are provided with plastic food, but I would also like 3 grocery carts and 2 grocery stands.
