Award-winning Books for Kids
Funded Dec 6, 2010Thank you so very much for the wonderful valuable award-winning books you donated to our class.
My students love reading, especially high quality books. Those tubs became the most visited on the shelves.
Every time I pulled out one of those books for a read aloud, I thought of you, thought of how you are making a difference in my teaching career, thought of how you helped my students. Every year, my students will enjoy these books. A generation after another generation of readers will benefit from those tubs.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Tubs for Our New Books
Funded Jan 4, 2011I'm very grateful that you donated these book tubs to us. I made colored labels for them. With brand-new award-winning books inside, these tubs look so inviting that my students are glued to our library area. I like these tubs, because they are colorful, sturdy and of the perfect size. Books fit better in these tubs.
Without these tubs, our new books would be piled up on the shelf. Each time when a six-year-old tries to pull one out, a whole pile would be on the floor. We would have to spend most of our time sorting and cleaning, instead of reading. Now that, my students can locate a book quickly and take the whole tub down from the shelf as needed.
This wonderful change is contributed to you, the generous donors. You brought these vital resources to our classroom. You brightened our learning days.
Thank you!

Books for Kids
Funded Dec 4, 2010You are the best. The best in the whole world. I've heard that "We, the People" can change the world. And now I've seen it in action. Your combined donation brought us tubs of books. I sorted them and labeled them. My students admired them and talked about them. Everyday, they spent time in reading them. I read aloud the ones they picked out. Noticeably my students writing improved as well as their reading.
It takes a teacher years to collect enough quality books for the classroom library. You helped me to shorten this voyage. I sincerely appreciate your donation.
When you see children reading, you know in Oregon, some children are reading the books you provided. You made a difference in their life.
Thanks,”

Book Tubs for Classroom Library
Funded Sep 3, 2010Thank you very much for the brand new book tubs. On the first day they arrived. My whole school knew about it. Several big boxes were piled up in the front office. I was so excited to go and claim it as ours.
These book tubs are colorful, so children like them. They are sturdy, so they will last a long time. They are of the perfect size, so a six year-old can easily take hold of it and move it up and down from the shelves. After I put the labels on and books in, these tubs look very organized on the shelves. They match some of my old ones as well. My students started to read more and took better care of our books. The library became much more efficient and beneficial to children. It's easier for me to locate a book for a read aloud. It also makes our classroom a more pleasant place to be.
All this wonderful progress was brought to us by you, the generous donors. We sincerely thank you.”

First Grade Literacy Support
Funded Feb 4, 2010Words can't express enough my gratitude to you all, generous donors who helped me be a better teacher and helped my students be a better reader and a better person in the world.
When these books arrived and the shipping boxes sat on the counter in the office, when everyone in the office announced the box was for my class from the donorschoose, literally the cheers in their voices brightened my day. When I opened the box in front of my students. These little six-year-olds could hardly hold their excitement in their bodies. They wanted to run over to the box and rip it open with their little hands. Of course, they were warned beforehand to stay in their seats and watch me open the box. Then they shouted when they saw the books. "Yeah! More books. Mrs.B. Can I choose my favorite books? Can I read them now?" "We should write thank you cards to the donors." one suggested.
As you may know, you provided me some books to teach good learner behaviors, some books for me to demonstrate good reading strategies, some books for me to use as writing prompts and some books for my students to just enjoy reading and enjoy being a first grader.
We will definitely use these books for a long time. My next year's students, the students' after that year, and more will all benefit from your donation.
Your donation showed your generosity and caring for education. Your investment will be well remembered and in return, you made the world a much better place to live.”

This classroom project was brought to life by * and 10 other donors. My Hands Are Too Small For Our Big Books
Funded Sep 18, 2009How can I thank you enough for your generous gift? Your donation helped me teach and helped my students learn.
When my students came into the classroom and saw the big book cart for the very first time, they surrounded this piece of furniture with such excitement and curiosity. I showed them how we would use it. They were so happy that they couldn't resist touching it and asking me to read some of the big books. One student said, "Now we can roll this cart to the center of the carpet and we can read big books off it." I nodded. Another student said, "Now you won't complain we got the big books wet when we washed our paintbrushes at the sink." I smiled. On the counter by the sink was the only place big enough to lay a pile of big books. We didn't have a storage place for the big books, now we have the big book cart. Problem solved. Thank you very much.
My students couldn't wait to write you their thank you notes. You showed them generosity and care for education. They learn how to love from you. We definitely use the big book cart everyday. I am writing journal prompts on the whiteboard on the cart in the morning. Then, I read a big book to them in the afternoon. My students also access to the storage in the back of the cart during quiet reading. The size of the books invites them. The rolling cart is flexible and functional.
Now I have just the right tool to use. You helped us tremendously. We appreciate your donation from the bottom of our heart.”

Read Along Books
Funded Feb 1, 2009How can I thank you enough for your generous gift? I'm sending my students' notes as a start! This way I can share with you a bit of these amazing young people I get to teach every day ... Your donation helped me show my appreciation for them, so I hope you get a hint of their sincerity, intelligence and kindness in their writing.
I'll offer a picture of when I presented the books you supplied to my students. They were so delighted and excited. Using earphones is such a powerful motivation. Reading Along Corner became my students' favorite place to visit. Some started listening and reading with a partner. Everyone asked me if they could take the book and CD home to practice more. One student couldn't believe we got the donation, "This person gave her/his own money away to buy things for us to use?" I nodded my head up and down. How cool is that? Not only did you provide us the perfect and the most needed materials, but also you taught us the world is full of love!!! Nothing is more exciting than receiving such presents on a Valentine's week.
Now I have just the right things to use, especially in helping some struggling learners. You made our dreams come true. Thank you!”
