For the Love of Reading
Funded Dec 9, 2013Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Last week our classroom received the books funded through your generous donations. I set them up in a display for students to see when they arrived in the morning, and oh my, I wish you could have seen their faces! I immediately had a swarm of students around the book, asking me if they were ready to be checked out. As a teacher, my heart does a little cheer when I see students so ecstatic about books.
As of now, every single book donated to us is checked out. Some books even have a waiting list! Students are frequently coming into my classroom and updating me on their book and their progress reading through it. Their smiles light up their eyes and make it apparent they are thoroughly enjoying their reading experience. What a sight for a reading teacher!
Students become better readers through authentic reading experiences, and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to provide books my students are interested in.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Christensen
Let There Be Books!
Funded Aug 10, 2013Words can not express how thankful we are for your generous donation to our classroom library. The books your donation has provided have our classroom community revved up for reading. The students' expressions when the books were brought in were priceless!
In order to introduce the books to the classroom, each grade level participated in a book tasting. Students had the opportunity to browse through the books and note ones they would be interested in reading. A few of the books actually had a waiting list started, as so many students were wanting to be the first to read them. As a reading teacher, my heart swelled with joy and excitement for my students.
Providing students with individual choice in reading books is important to me. Due to your generosity, I was able to expand my classroom library and, in turn, appeal to more of my students. Thank you the impact you have had on our classroom. You will always have a special place in our learning community.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Christensen
