A Comfy Nook to Read a Book!
Funded Oct 3, 2024It has been a great first term to the school year. The students were pleasantly surprised when the new materials from the classroom arrived. I was excited to give them alternative ways to enjoy reading and writing.
The beanbags and seat cushions were the biggest hit. We have a rotation routine so everyone can enjoy the comfy seating. The book shelves highlight books of the month. I ordered new books by Latinx authors so they were displayed for Hispanic Heritage Month. November highlighted new graphic novels. The students like this idea because they can wait to try a new book out.
All the materials are being used to benefit the students. I continue to teach and instill a love for reading and writing, which can be difficult nowadays. Thank you all for the generous donations! We really appreciate it!”

Bringing Our Stories To Life With Technology
Funded Aug 16, 2016We want to thank you so much for your donations. The students were excited to use all the materials. My students do not have access to technology on a regular basis. We still have to share about 20 laptops with the middle classes. When I bring in laptops to our classroom, the students know the importance of using appropriately and understand that they have to manage their time wisely. We mostly use the technology for research. When we have more time, the students are able to type their writing assignments. I am hoping to teach them how to save and email through google docs.
The students were really excited about the new headphones and flash drives. They loved how the headphones came in different colors and how it drowned out the noises. They are able to focus on the task. They also learned very quickly how to save their assignments on to the flash drives. They knew their work was safe from being deleted or changed by the hands of other students from other classrooms.
Lastly, several students benefited from the new products. Students, who usually struggled with writing tasks, were able to complete the assignments within the time frame when they were using the laptops for research and typing out the task. Also, many were able to stay on task when using the headphones. Once again, we appreciate your donations to our project.”
