My 60 (yes, 60!) third graders are practicing to be middle schoolers already. They get to switch classes, use lockers, and be reading rock stars. The school is about 98% low incomes. They grow up in a neighborhood where gang lines are evident. They are a part of a school that is going through a massive transformation for culture, climate, instruction, and most importantly, academic gains.
