Last year I borrowed locks and boxes from a friend and implemented an escape challenge using problem scenarios. My students couldn't contain their excitement! As they solved each problem, they celebrated with each other and were encouraged to continue on to the final goal of unlocking the box. I first tried this escape activity with one box and the students were on top of each other. The second time, I used three boxes and it worked out much better! The students were able to work in small groups and each one was able to participate. The communication was positive and the students worked as a team throughout the whole process. My Gifted and Talented students need to be challenged and guided as they grow in all academic and social-emotional areas involving effective communication and critical problem-solving. I am always looking for ways to encourage this in their learning, but funding our activities is often a challenge and many times, prohibitive. Please consider being a part of our students' success. They get so excited when exploring and absolutely thrive from learning new things!
