A New Start for a New School Year!
Funded Sep 29, 2022I am so excited to know that such wonderful people stepped up to help my students be better readers and learn to love reading. I can't thank each of you enough for your kindness and generosity. The Guided reading books will make such a difference for my students. I can not wait to see their faces when the supplies arrive but more importantly I can not wait to see the excitement on their faces when they realize they are becoming real readers! Watching students learn to read and love reading is one of the greatest joys of my job. Thank you again for helping to give my students the tools they need to be as successful as possible.”
With gratitude,

Mrs. C's Reading and Writing Center
Funded Sep 16, 2019We are so grateful for your donation to our classroom. Everyday the students rotate working and using our flexible seating. The students love to get comfy and read a good book or use the seating to spread out around the room and complete their work. Everyday during independent reading the students take turns reading their "just right" books in a bean bag chair, or at a lap desk. They also love to sit and write their realistic fiction and opinion writing pieces in our scoop chairs and other seating options.
When the materials first arrived the students were so curious as to what was in the boxes. When I explained what they were and where they came from they cheered loudly and were so excited. At first they all were fighting over using the materials, but now we have routines in place so that everyone gets a chance to use them and it is fair.
In our classroom, we are currently working to compare and contrast 2 texts. We are analyzing characters actions and traits and noticing themes and patterns in books. We are then writing about these things that we notice. We are growing as readers and writers everyday! We are also practicing multiplication and division in Math. We are thinking about other materials that can support us and making a list to create another Donors Choose projects as a class.”
