  • Designs for Dynamic Stars

    Funded Aug 8, 2022

I want to say thank you so much for your generosity and support of my scholars. I want to do everything I can to make sure they feel welcome in our room. They will be so excited to use these resources and I know they will feel safe and comfortable because you decided to help them!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Moses

  • Chemistry Chronicles: Complex Chemistry needs Calculators!

    Funded Feb 4, 2014

My scholars and I would like to extend our greatest gratitude for helping fund our project. Many of my scholars are aspiring scientists and health professionals. Therefore, they are extremely invested in Chemistry, despite the level of difficulty.

With the scientific calculators and the atomic model kits we will be able to delve into a deeper understanding of Chemistry, without their math challenges or difference in learning styles serving as obstacles to their desire to learn the science.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Moses

This classroom project was brought to life by Fairbanks Foundation and 4 other donors.
I was given the ultimate blessing to educate 100 scholars. 99% of my scholars are African-American/Latino and 1% is White. My charter school believes relentlessly in the mission that every scholar deserves the opportunity to attend and graduate from a four-year college/university. From day one, scholars are met with the motto "College or DIE!". Starting in 8th grade, they take college courses, such as conceptual Physics and Algebra, and they are currently taking Chemistry in 9th grade. By the time they are Juniors they will start the "Early College" program to take accredited college courses while in high school. Even with our unapologetic mission for each scholar, they face substandard housing, sub par access to food and substantial dysfunction. And there comes a point where my school needs help meeting the resources that my scholars lack. Our parents brought their kids to my school to give them an option to the seemingly inevitable. Daily, we work intentionally to fulfill that.
