  • Interactive Journal Necessities

    Funded Sep 3, 2024

Your generosity in donating to my project on Donorschoose.org is much appreciated by my students and myself.

My students will now be able to have the much needed materials to complete the interactive journal activities we do on a daily basis.

The glue sticks, paper, markers, notebook paper, and the composition books will be used by my students on a daily basis.

The interactive journal activities include grammar rules, parts of speech, and how to write a complete sentence with correct punctuation. These activities lead to students improving their writing skills in all classes.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murray

  • Poster Board for Projects

    Funded Jul 30, 2024

My students were very excited when they saw the two boxes of white poster boards brought into my classroom.

I had several ask if they could have a piece of the poster board for their book projects before I even had the box open. Some students are using them as an actual poster, while others are creating a chart with flaps to complete their book projects.

I am excited to see the creativity coming out when my students begin working on their book projects and I am anxious to see the final product when they turn them in.

These poster boards will also be used at the end of the year when we do the "Birds of Prey" unit and my students complete the project part of the assignment.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murray

  • Reading: Independently

    Funded Apr 28, 2024

These two books "The Story of My Life" and "The House on Mango Street" will be used next school year in conjunction with our new reading curriculum. These two books will allow my students to read the entire selection instead of just an excerpt from the book.

The books will be used as independent reading assignments to be read during class time on a daily basis as we are reading the excerpt and having whole group discussions. I believe having the book to read as well as the excerpt will allow my students to have a deeper understanding of the context of the book.

My students will be having whole group discussions on the main ideas, annotating the chapters, as well as summarizing the chapters and book. I believe this will help increase their comprehension and general knowledge with new vocabulary.

We appreciate the access to these two books you have given us.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murray

  • Interactive Journal Supplies

    Funded Apr 5, 2024

Thank you for funding my project, it is greatly appreciated.

My students have already been using the highlighters, glue sticks, and scissors on a daily basis during my ELA classes.

Students highlight the important information on the worksheets of the day, as well as cut the paper in half with the scissors. Students then write the definition with example sentences and glue them into their ELA composition books to be used as reference when writing their essays.

We have enough glue sticks and highlighters to last through the end of the school year as well as into the first of next school year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murray

  • Much Needed Basic School Supplies

    Funded Mar 3, 2024

My students were thrilled when they watched me open the boxes of supplies, they were all very excited and relieved our stock was refilled.

These much needed materials are already being used!!!!

The highlighters have been used while reading as they highlight the important details of the story/text.

Glue sticks have been used for their book projects, along with the Sharpie markers.

The notebook paper has been used for the annotating of the stories they are reading, along with the writing prompts.

As the year has quickly passed by us, my classroom was beginning to run out of these items, I am so grateful to those who helped fund my project for the much needed supplies to finish the year out and to use in the coming school year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murray

  • Let's Look It Up

    Funded Oct 16, 2023

Having the dictionaries in my classroom has been awesome. I have always preferred my students to use an actual dictionary versus using the Chromebooks for looking up new vocabulary words or looking up the spelling of words.

My students have used the new dictionaries consistently since we received them. They truly appreciate having them to use on a daily basis, as we have new vocabulary words weekly, which they are working on throughout the school week with each unit we have in reading.

Students are actually realizing they do not need to recite the entire alphabet to find the first letter of the word they are looking up at the time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murray

  • Boogie Board Blackboard

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Having the Boogey Boards has been a blessing! I can have my students work in groups and have a recorder record the group's response and then they show them to the rest of the class.

I like the idea of not wasting paper, having the students show their answers, and we have a short discussion on why they answered the way they did.

Students seem to enjoy using the Boogey Boards better than using white boards. I like having them instead of the white boards as well. No wasting Kleenex to wipe off the white boards, or dirtying up a rag to have to take home to wash. Just a quick push of a button, the Boogey Board clears the board.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Murray
