  • 21st Century Writers

    Funded Feb 3, 2019

This project has made such a huge impact on my class! We have been so busy learning how to be great writers. We have learned how to write personal narratives, imaginative narratives, friendly letters, opinion pieces, how to's, and research papers.

This project has allowed my writers to type and print their writing pieces! My writers will type up their first drafts and then they would print out their drafts so they can revise and edit with their peers or with myself. Then my writers would go back on the computer, make the necessary changes for their final copy. When they were all done, they would add a picture before they would print out their final copy.

My students have really enjoyed writing this year and I know it's because they were able to print their good copies and take them home to share with their families.

Thank you so very much for helping my students become great writers!”

  • The Best Listeners!

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

I was overwhelmed with gratitude when I found out this project was fully funded! My students use the headphones when they are completing their reading and math interventions on the computer. Having headphones for each one of my students allows them to concentrate and focus while completing their activities. My students also use the headphones during their reading centers. One of the centers that we have is a "listening center" where students can read and listen to books on CD. These interventions and listening centers help my students to sharpen their reading skills and increase their reading levels. Each of my students has a reading goal for the school year and I want them all to be successful in meeting their goals. My students take such pride in their headphones, they are very appreciative. Thank you again for your generosity!”

  • 2nd Graders Ready to Learn!

    Funded Jul 26, 2018

I was overwhelmed with gratitude when I found out this project was funded. My students are deserving of having the necessary school supplies to get the year off to a good start, and with your help this is possible! My students use the hallway and bathroom passes when they need to leave the room. It helps to let other staff members know why they are in the hallway and where they are going. The storage bins help to keep our guided reading books and center work organized by groups. The partition boards help my students to work independently and keep from getting distracted when they are working or taking a test. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for helping me make this school year wonderful!”

    With gratitude,

  • Neat, Tidy, and Healthy Kids!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I want to start by saying how humbled I am that there are people like you in the world that care so much about children and their educational needs. My students come from an area that is impoverished and drug infested. These children have seen so many things that you and I could only imagine in our nightmares. Even with every obstacle in their way, these kids come to school and they want to learn. I am so thankful that with your help, I was able to get cleaning supplies to keep our classroom a safe and clean environment. My students deserve to sit on a clean rug and have clean desks. A clean classroom has helped to keep the winter time illnesses at bay and keep my students in school more often.”

  • We Are Writers!

    Funded Dec 31, 2017

I want to start by saying how humbled I am that there are people like you in the world that care so much about children and their educational needs. Every school year begins with anxious and excited emotions. One of my worries is that my students will not have all of the tools they need in order to be successful in school. My students come from an area that is impoverished and drug infested. These children have seen so many things that you and I could only imagine in our nightmares. Even with every obstacle in their way, these kids come to school and they want to learn. I am so thankful that with your help, I am able to replace their pencils and crayons when needed. Having a strong pencil sharpener has provided us with sharpened pencils ready to go. Thank you again!”

  • Extra, Extra, Read All About It!

    Funded Aug 30, 2017

It had been so much fun being able to keep up with current events and with seasonal activities. My students love reading their Time for Kids magazines. I ordered the first grade edition because so many of my second grade students are on a first grade reading level. These magazines are perfect because they match their reading levels. I have been having them read the magazines during independent reading time and then they take them home and read them with their family members. It's been helpful especially for my students who do not have books at home to read. Now there's no excuse for these children to not be reading everyday. I have noticed such a difference in their reading interest and in their abilities. Thank you for your generosity and for helping my young readers fall in love with reading non fiction.”

  • Everyone Can Read at Their Own Level!

    Funded Oct 19, 2017

The day our books arrived was such an exciting one. It truly felt like Christmas for myself and my students. My students helped to organize and label the books for our library. We have our class library organized by categories, authors and by student levels. We were able to add these new books to the leveled part of our library. That afternoon my students had so much fun reading our new books. There is no better joy than seeing children fall in love with reading. Thanks to you, I am able to see that every day! Thank you for your generosity and for giving young readers the chance to read no matter what their ability may be.”

I teach a wonderful and loving group of 25 second graders! My students are from a high poverty area. School is a safe and loving environment for them. My school district is in financial crisis. I end up buying nearly all the supplies that my students need. I appreciate any help and support for this very special group of children. Thank you.
