Beginning this year, I will start at a new school teaching 2nd grade in a diverse neighborhood of Los Angeles. Teachers are not provided with their own classroom library but in order for all children to meet the standards, their goals and build their love of learning, a classroom library is a necessity. Students at my school have a strong interest in learning and exploring through project based learning and an arts integrated curriculum. Reading is at the core of driving their imagination, innovation and creativity. They have worked hard to build their skills in Kindergarten and First grade and are ready to keep climbing in their Guided Reading levels.
