The clothes do make the man... or in this case the scientist. Having the right look is inspiring and in this case it's for safety. Having a lab coat will promote not only inspiration to my students when doing their lab experiments, but it will also keep them mess-free. I teach science to 8th grade students. They grow crystals, they do acid/base experiments, slime and other chemical mixes. They are required to wear uniforms in a high-need community, and they often only have one or two uniforms to wear. They can not afford to get dirty. We currently have plastic aprons too big for them to wear.
