Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you so very much for your generous donation to our classroom project. With your help, we received two class sets of books for novel studies in grade 3! My students and I thoroughly enjoyed reading, discussing and writing about Poppy and The War with Grandpa this year.
Through our novel studies, we were able to engage in rich discussions about the main characters, their traits and how the characters evolved throughout the story. We looked closely at the story elements and talked about how authors made these stories so interesting and fun to read. Engaging in higher level thinking activities helped students analyze and synthesize important information in the story and make inferences about the theme and central message in the text. These lessons helped us not only as readers but as writers of fiction, too!
Sharing a text together as a whole class helped us foster a sense of community, too! It allowed time for readers of all abilities to come together to enjoy the same story. Our read aloud time was the highlight of our day!
Thank you for supporting our classroom this year!”

Funded Mar 23, 2018My third-grade students and I are so appreciative of your donation. Due to your generosity, these students are able to work collaboratively to learn using hands-on activities during math workshop. Students look forward to math workshop because it's engaging and allows them to take responsibility for their own learning.
The document camera allows me to show examples of math strategies and share student work and thinking. Students are eager to share their work and seem to be more willing to share the mistakes they made and how they persevered to find a solution. The timer is a great tool to use during math centers because it gives a visual of how much time is left. I was able to create math toolkits using the pencil boxes and laminating paper, allowing students to have math manipulatives available whenever they needed them. It's been great to see students reaching for these when they are struggling to solve a problem.
This donation has changed how we teach and learn in our classroom because it allows for a more cohesive flow during guided math and centers. Students are not only motivated and engaged at every center, but they are also fine-tuning their critical thinking skills and becoming more responsible students at the same time. As the teacher, it allows me to differentiate the instruction so that I can teach to every single student in my classroom. We are truly thankful for all that you have done to make a difference!”

Funded Nov 10, 2015Thank you so much for your generosity! This year, our students were lucky enough to receive iPads through an Apple grant, which has opened many doors for us in the classroom. Students have been using their iPads to conduct research, read a variety of books, create science and social studies presentations, and work on creative writing projects. With the addition of this new printer, students are able to publish their work and display it in our classroom and in common areas for others to view. This printer has been especially helpful to me because I am now able to create engaging activities for students to use during math and reading centers.
My students are most excited about being able to print their work right from their seats! Being able to print their projects allows them to take their work home to share with their families and other classrooms in the building. It has helped us make a smooth transition into a 21st century classroom!
The printer has been an especially helpful tool for students that struggle with writing. The printer allows students to complete their writing assignments on the iPads or computers and print them when they are ready to publish. Students are more eager to complete assignments and seem to actually enjoy the writing process!
Thank you all for your help in seeing this project through. We appreciate your willingness to help make our classroom a better place to teach and learn!”

Guiding Readers,Writers and Mathematicians!
Funded Oct 15, 2013My third grade students and I are so appreciative of your donation. Due to your generosity, these students are able to work collaboratively to learn using hands- on activities during math and reading. Students look forward to math and reading workshop because it allows them to be responsible for their own learning and it motivates them to learn.
We are able to incorporate technology into our daily classroom learning using the interactive Daily Math Station software for our Smart Board. Students cannot wait to get to this station where they are able to review math concepts learned throughout the year in a way that keeps them fully engaged. The use of the laminating machine to create engaging station activities has really changed our math workshop for the better. I was able to create activities that are effective and allow for critical thinking that we can use to review concepts throughout the current and upcoming school years.

A Comfortable Place to Learn
Funded Jul 21, 2013Thank you so much for your generosity! My third graders absolutely love our new classroom rug! They enjoy sitting together for whole group instruction and are always asking to spend independent reading time on the rug. They couldn't believe the size and the feel of the rug and love to sit with partners to read there. We have recieved many compliments on our new carpet and feel that it has made a positive difference in our learning environment.
We spend the majority of our learning time on the rug. The size allows students to sit with partners or in a circle, which makes it a lot easier for us to have discussions. Students are comfortable and at ease which allows them to stay focused and more apt to ask and answer questions throughout our lessons. Our first grade reading buddies even had the opportunity to sit and read with us on our brand new rug and they had a lot of great things to say about it!
Having this rug allows for more learning time in our classroom. Students are enthusiastic about sitting at the rug and are able to sit there comfortably. The amount of space it creates reduces the amount of time it takes students to transition and find a seat, leaving us a considerable amount of more learning time together. Thank you for helping us find a comfortable place to learn!”
