Breakfast Piano Music
Funded Feb 14, 2025Thank you so much for helping me to buy the digital piano for our cafeteria at school. This new instrument will help our students have an enjoyable experience at breakfast time. It has many wonderful features besides normal piano playing. For example, you can use the speaker system as a Bluetooth sound system. I will be very happy to receive this keyboard.”

Funded Dec 31, 2024Thank you so much for helping to fund our tone chimes project. My students and I appreciate your generosity. Keyboards for Music Class
Funded Aug 2, 2023Thanks for helping me to buy keyboards for the music room at Mary Bryan Elementary School, where I am the music teacher. The kids really love the keyboards. I often ask, "What's better: ukuleles, boomwhackers, or keyboards?" And most kids quickly reply "Keyboards." They are easier to play than ukuleles, and allow them much greater control over their performance than boomwhackers or other classroom percussion instruments. And the fact that the keyboards interface with the kids' Chromebooks make them all the more appealing.
You are all very generous, thanks very much.”

Funded Jun 14, 2021All of our 700+ Mary Bryan Elementary School students are using our new USB keyboards, which your donation helped us to purchase. The kids are enjoying them very much. Just yesterday, a first-grader had an "a-ha" moment, when he discovered that he could play the song I was teaching. He asked me to listen to him play, and I complimented him. Then he asked me to tell his classroom teacher what he had done, and I did that for him. This boy has trouble behaving and following directions, and so it was good for him to get some positive words from me.
Our students all reacted with delight when they saw the new keyboards which they would be playing. They have all been able to connect their keyboards to their Chromebooks and make music with them, which has been a wonderful thing.
Our next steps will be to use the keyboards to explore new pieces of sheet music which the kids have not seen yet. This will happen more with the upper grades than with the lower grades. All the grades will continue to learn songs "by ear," such as "Hot Cross Buns" and "Baby Shark." Those songs are great fun, and really help kids stay motivated to keep on task.
Thank you again!”

Funded Jan 27, 2021Thanks so much for donating to my project, "Boomwhackers for Music Class." As you probably know, Boomwhackers are colorful plastic tubes, which are different lengths. When you hit a Boomwhacker on the floor or on your hand, a definite pitch is heard, depending on the length of the Boomwhacker. This teaches students about the science of sound, as well as enables them to perform in an instrumental ensemble something like a handbell choir. My students love the Boomwhackers. They are one of my most effective tools in my music classroom. They allow all students to be engaged in making music at the same time, with a minimum of setup and explanation. This is especially helpful during the pandemic, when we are not supposed to sing.”

Headphones for Music Class
Funded Dec 21, 2020Thank you so much for donating to my project, "Headphones for Music Class." We use Chromebooks every day in music class, and when I assign individual projects, I ask that students use headphones, rather than computer speakers, to enable them to work without disturbing others. In every class, there are some students who, for whatever reason, come to music class without headphones. I wanted to be able to give these students headphones, no questions asked, so they could complete their assignments properly. And that's what I was able to do with the headphones which you helped me purchase.”
