  • Sparkling New Books for Our Library Shelves!

    Funded Apr 9, 2025

Thank you so much for donating to this project and providing this amazing collection of new books for our library media center. I am going to have some VERY excited students when these books arrive - every day I get asked about new books with these characters! Our library serves 2000+ students in 4 schools, so these books will be well-loved and read countless times! I cannot wait to get these books onto the shelves as soon as they arrive! New, engaging books like these will encourage students to visit the library and READ!

Thank you so much for caring about my students and their education.”

  • Filling Our Shelves with Favorite Characters!

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

It is with deep gratitude that I write to thank you for the collection of new books about favorite characters, which you generously donated to my students for our elementary Library Media Center.

As I continue to work on updating our Library Media Center into a 21st century space for students to collaborate and learn, updating our library's book collection is a priority. The books you provided are in high demand by students -- not a day goes by without a student asking for books about Stitch, Bluey, Ninja Turtles, and other popular characters! Students are thrilled to have these new options--most were checke out before they made it to the shelves! It's so important for students to have access to the books that they want to read, to keep them motivated!

Thank you for giving my students the books that they are asking for. So many students will be impacted as they read these books, become immersed in the stories, and grow as readers. Thank you for helping to foster my students' love of reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hubert

  • Bringing More Stories to Life With Novel Effect

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

It is with deep gratitude that I write to thank you for the school library subscription plan for Novel Effect, which you generously funded for my students!

Novel Effect brings stories alive during read alouds with music and sound effects that engage readers and support comprehension. With the school library subscription renewal, my teachers and I will continue to have access to the large and constantly growing library of available book soundscapes. We also received additional bluetooth speakers to use with the app, which teachers can borrow to use in their classrooms. With access for 30 student licenses and stickers to label library books that work with Novel Effect, students can also access this engaging app so that they can practice reading with the sound effects. For our reluctant readers, this is a great motivator to practice reading aloud. Older students can also practice reading to younger students in the library!

Thank you for giving my students access to Novel Effect, an engaging app that will help to foster a love of reading for many, m”

  • Colorful 3D Printing In Our Library Makerspace

    Funded Feb 19, 2025

It is with deep gratitude that I write to thank you for the 3D printing filament in a rainbow of colors, which you generously donated for my students to use in our library Makerspace!

During 3D Printing elective classes, students learn how to bring their ideas to life as 3D-printed models. They learn how to apply the design process of imagining, designing, creating, and revising to improve their design techniques, and they learn how to improve from mistakes and failures. Students learn how technology can be used to solve problems with creative solutions.

The excitement around 3D printing has grown this year, and students are curious to learn more and eager to create their own designs. With this new supply of filament, more students will have the opportunity to print their designs. These new colors will be a bright addition to our project space and will help students' creativity shine!

Thank you for giving my students this opportunity and for caring about my their education -- you are helping to foster the imaginations of the innovators of tomorrow!”

  • Let's Score With New Sports Books!

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

It is with deep gratitude that I write to thank you for the collection of new books about sports and athletes, which you generously donated to my students for our elementary Library Media Center.

As I continue to work on updating our Library Media Center into a 21st century space for students to collaborate and learn, updating our library's book collection is a priority. Sports is a popular nonfiction topic for my students, yet our sports section in the library is terribly outdated. Students are constantly asking for books about current athletes and their favorite players! Word quickly spread when these new sports books hit the shelves last week and in just a few days, most of these books have been checked out already! I love to see kids excited to read new books!

These books will improve our nonfiction section and provide more accessible and interesting choices for our young readers. Thank you for giving my students books that will motivate them to read and to explore new books in our library. So many students will get to enjoy these books for years to come! Thank you for helping to foster my students' love of reading!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hubert

This is my 21st year in my district, and my 4th year as the Library Media Specialist in our amazing elementary complex Library Media Center (after 12 years in the classroom and 5 years as an instructional coach). I continue to work to restore and update our library into a 21st century library media center / learning hub--updating our books and space, adding ebooks and other innovative resources to the library, and creating an Innovation and Maker Space for ALL students to access. I work with students in our four elementary schools, primarily grades 1-4. Our students are consistently eager to learn and enthusiastic about new and exciting learning opportunities, despite the challenges that they face outside of the classroom. Our students live in an urban, low-income city comprised largely of hardworking immigrant families, many of whom speak a language other than English at home.
