This is my 21st year in my district, and my 4th year as the Library Media Specialist in our amazing elementary complex Library Media Center (after 12 years in the classroom and 5 years as an instructional coach). I continue to work to restore and update our library into a 21st century library media center / learning hub--updating our books and
space, adding ebooks and other innovative resources to the library, and creating an Innovation and Maker Space for ALL students to access.
I work with students in our four elementary schools, primarily grades 1-4. Our students are consistently eager to learn and enthusiastic about new and exciting learning opportunities, despite the challenges that they face outside of the classroom. Our students live in an urban, low-income city comprised largely of hardworking immigrant families, many of whom speak a language other than English at home.
