Funded Oct 4, 2015Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You have no idea how wonderful it is to finally have a laminator. I was able to create materials for my classroom that last a long time and minimize the amount of paper wasted in my class. I am also compiling some of my students' art work so I can share it with their families. My students create wonderful pieces of art in my class. Now I can preserve some so they can take them home and keep them for a long time.

Funded Nov 29, 2015Thank you so much for helping my class to get an air-conditioner!!! Now when the warm weather comes, my students will be able to enjoy a cool classroom. Students need a safe and comfortable space, and ensuring the proper temperature is an important part of this. Students need to stay cool in the hot months in New York City. We are ready to install our new air conditioner now that the warm weather is coming.

Help Me Foster a Strong School/Home Collaboration

Little Tykes Need Math Learning Centers
Funded Oct 22, 2014Thank you so much for helping us to get math games. My kindergartners are becoming fantastic mathematicians. They love working with manipulatives and playing games. It is a joy to watch them every day as they figure things out, individually and in small groups.
They are growing and learning and I feel lucky that I get to participate in their development every day.

Literacy Centers for Kindergarteners
Funded Jun 12, 2014What a great impact your generous donation did for my class! It's because of you that reading has become enjoyable for my little four and five year old students.
When my students received the literacy centers they were excited! When I introduced the centers to them, they smile and say to me, "Can we place at this center everyday Ms. Verwayne!" Oh what a joy to hear kids say these words. They are also excited to get a chance to enhance their reading skills that they are gaining a love for books and raising their reading levels. That too is a beautiful thing to see my students doing.

We use the literacy centers a lot during our center time and reading workshop periods. When I'm teaching reading small groups, it's great to have the literacy centers to help teach my students reading strategies that can help them improve their reading skills. During literacy center time, the students can use the activities to teach them how to identify sight words that were taught to them, work on their phonics skills, and even learn how to write and spell words.
This project has boost my teaching and my students' learning a lot. The fact that my students are reading more show that the literacy centers has had an impact on my class and that alone is a precious gift. So thank you very much.”

Audio Books for Kindergarteners
Funded Dec 19, 2013What a great impact your generous donation did for my class! It's because of you that reading has become enjoyable for my little four and five year old students.
When my students use the audio books, they will be excited! Right now my students are eager to learn and eager to read books. Some of them can't read right now but this does not stop them from wanting to read. Having these audio books will continue to help my students reading enthusiasm continue. Oh what a joy to hear kids say "Ms. Verwayne, can I read a book!" That too is a beautiful thing to see my students doing.
We will use the audio books a lot during our reading workshops, story time, or literacy center time. When I'm teaching reading and it's story time, and I need to make a teaching point, it's great to have the audio books so that all students get a chance to read or hear text. During literacy center time, the students can listen to the books to help build their comprehension skills, or they can use the books to hear how the sight words that were taught to them sounds.
This project will boost my teaching and my students' learning a lot. The fact that my students are asking me to read is a precious gift. So thank you very much.”

Listening Center for Kindergarteners

When my students received the listening center they were excited! When I give them a chance to listen to literature at the listening center over and over again, they smile and say to me, "Can I do it again Ms. Verwayne!" Oh what a joy to hear kids say these words especially kids who cannot read at this moment. This is a beautiful thing to see my students doing.
We use the listening center a lot during our reading workshops or literacy center time. When I'm teaching reading and it's story time, and I need to make a teaching point, it's great to have the listening center so that students can hear the text no matter what their reading ability is. During literacy center time, the students can listen to text that are above their reading level this will help their reading comprehension.
This project has boost my teaching and my students' learning a lot. The fact that my students are asking me to hear text more is a great way to get my students to love reading and that alone is a precious gift. So thank you very much.”

Kindergarten Architects Need Building Materials
Funded Oct 5, 2013What a great impact your generous donation did for my class! It's because of you that expressing creativity has become enjoyable for my little four and five year old students.
When my students received the building materials, they were excited! When I showed them the building blocks, they smile and said to me, "Are these really ours! Can we use them everyday Ms. Verwayne!" Oh what a joy to hear kids say these words. They are also excited to get a chance to pretend that they are constructing buildings using their imagination. That too is a beautiful thing to see my students doing.
We use the building blocks a lot during center time and social studies. When I'm teaching about schools and homes, and I need to make a teaching point, it's great to have the building blocks so that students can get a sense of what I'm talking about. It's a great visual tool for students that struggle with reading words from a chart. During center time, the students can pretend that they are architects redesigning our school, or constructing a home that they would love to live in.
This project has boost my teaching and my students' learning a lot. The fact that my students are asking me to go to the block center everyday is a great way to get my students to love constructing things and that alone is a precious gift. Who knows, I may be nurturing a future architect. So thank you very much.”

Funded Sep 3, 2013What a great impact your generous donation did for my class! It's because of you that science has become enjoyable for my little four and five year old students.
When my students received the science equipment they were excited! When I introduced them the different materials they smiled and said to me, "I love science Ms. Verwayne!" Oh what a joy to hear kids say these words. They are also excited to get a chance to pretend that they are scientist working in a science lab and discuss the things that scientist do with each other. That too is a beautiful thing to see my students doing.
We use the science materials a lot during our science workshops,and center time. When I'm teaching science and I need to make a teaching point, it's great to have the science materials that the students can participate in hands on science discoveries. During center time, the students can use the magnifying glass to look at specimens, or look closer at bugs. The students really enjoy the science project book that I use during science to conduct science experiments. I love that my students are enjoying measuring objects or liquids, making hypothesis about things they notice, collecting data, and coming up with theories.
This project has boost my teaching and my students' learning a lot. The fact that my students are asking me to teach science more, or engage in meaningful science discussions is a great way to get my students to love science and that alone is a precious gift. So thank you very much.”
