My students are a lively 3rd grade group who are immensely social and thrive in group settings. Unfortunately, most of my students come from families where food and clothes, not books, is where all of the money is spent. I teach in a title 1 school and all my students have limited access to things they can call their own. Most of my students share a single bedroom with their entire family, so personal space and storage is a luxury.
