Funded Apr 15, 2017My students have absolutely loved having the flexible seating options this year. The students have utilized wobble stools, yoga mats, wobble seats, etc. to complete their work as well as engage in learning opportunities. The students are able to move around as needed in order to complete their work rather than sitting in their desk all day.
When parents and students first walked into my room on Back to School Night they wanted to know where all the desks were. They were instantly intrigued as well as excited for the school year to start. During the first weeks of school, students were excited to try out all of the different options. It has been interesting to see what the favorites would be and they have really surprised me. The students seem to like changing it up every couple of weeks and trying out new seats.
I have loved having these flexible seating options for my students. I hope to continue building up the expectations of my students for flexible seating. In the future I would like to keep flexible seating but possibly add more tables and other options for the students.
We are very grateful for all of your help in making our classroom a 21st century classroom for the students.”

Math Mania!
Funded Mar 10, 2016With these math resources, the students are able to explore and investigate multiple math concepts in a variety of ways. Students are using the math resources in small group, whole group, partner work, and student-led instruction. The students are learning through concrete practice using the math manipulatives. The Double Shutter Tin has helped to build fluency in addition and subtraction of basic facts. Math fluency of these basic skills is crucial to be able to master more complex skills such as multiplication and division. The students are using the dice in dice and fraction dominoes to complete hands-on, engaging, math activities that will promote communication and collaboration with classmates. This has impacted my students greatly by making their learning tailored to their needs. With a variety of activities for the students to use, I am able to meet them where they are, and dive deep into learning These activities are helping my students to become independent, life-long learners who are inquisitive.”
